Good monitor for a 4870 or possibly a 4870x2

I presently have a 19" LCD Viewsonic VX922 and I was going to start a new build soon. I've read in the forum that a 19" LCD "won't do the 4870 justice" and "you wont see the resolution that it's capable of doing." I was looking at 20"-22" LCD's. I saw that someone is planning on getting a Asus 22" LCD with 2ms response time and the Asus brands have been getting generous feedback. Anyone have any recommendations either Asus or any other company?

My system will be a gaming system only--playing MMORPG's (Future plan: Star Trek Online, APB), FSX and other games like Civilization 4, Simcity 4, Simcity Socieites (still disappointed with this game), 18WoS: Haulin, Zoo Tycoon 2, Rail Simulator (Another Disappointment), and The Sims2 (I plan on getting Sims 3) . I don't play Crysis at all and I;m not a fan of FPS. I occasionally play FSX by the way. I don't play it everyday.

This is why I'm also torn with processors as well. I know many have told me to get Q9550 since I have FSX. I was leaning towards the E8600 because it's over 3.0GHZ. Yet also Quad's are calling me lol. I was excited over Nehalem but I think the initial launch will cost so much.

I bought myself a 4870 X2 and with it at LEAST a 24" Samsung. It's beautiful. Should get one I'd say at least 22" if not 24".

To fully utilize the 4870 or 4870 X2, I would recommend gaming at a resolution of at least 1680 x 1050. If you aren't playing FPS's, I don't think you would see much difference between a 2ms and a 5ms monitor. I don't really have a recommendation or a favorite company, but I've had good experience with Acer.

I'm not sure if any of the games you play fully use a quad core, but I'm using an E8500 right now and it's very good for gaming.

Newegg actually just lowered the price by $40. I bought mine from circuitcity.com for the same price (kinda wish I had waited for newegg to lower the price.. not sure I trust circuit city). I nearly got it but I saw the glossy one in the store and MAN is it crisp.

However, let me warn you that I saw these in person and the bases are very wobbly. Where the display attaches to the base seemed very loose and just tapping the edge of the monitor causes it to wobble around.. it really bothered me. I checked around at different stores and different screen sizes and the Rose-Black monitors all wobbled a lot. The screen looks great, I just don't like the base.

If you're on a really small budget, then I would check out the Acer 22". It's a really good value buy, although it doesn't look as nice as the LGs:

I have FSX

I was thinking of getting a 21" or 22". I was looking at the Asus, Samsung, LG (love their appliances! I replaced all kitchen appliances to LG), and Acer LCD's. I'm not on a tight budget because I'm doing a complete makeover on my gaming system. Id say that I can get a great LCD for less than $300.

You may have looked on here already, but here's a search on newegg.com for Asus, Samsung, LG, and Acer LCD monitors in the 21-22 inch range. Almost all of them have very good ratings.

Man I was looking @ that Acer sub 200 dollar monitor as well, seems like a good price for a 22" monitor at 5ms. My question is tho, how would it look in first person shooters like Crysis and Half Life 2 episode 2, UT3? /= If not I'll end up spending an extra hundred on a 2ms monitor @ 22". To put it simple, I'm Just looking for a decent quality 22" monitor that wont ghost on me ... :[

I have a monitor very similar to that one (mine is an Acer AL2216W). It has decent quality (especially for <$200). It's not the best, but IMO, it's well worth the $200.
