I cant argue with that build looks fine to me. i might put a few more bucks into the 9800 gtx2 or a 4870 for the 10.1 direct x and avivo other than that looks spanky

It looks like it will be good for games, but leaves a question unanswered: How much are you paying for it?

Have to agree with jtt. Superficially, it looks like a good rig. But how much you shell out makes a big difference. Especially if you find out (knock on wood) that you may have gotten better components at similar prices.

But all in all, it looks good. Let us know how it plays.

ATI HD4870 would be a better choice - faster and for not much more moolah! Otherwise it's a great looking build. Although if i were you i'd plonk for the Q6600 as it's a fair amount cheaper than the Q9450.

I agree that a 4870 would be a better choice. The 4850 beats the 9800GTX+ in most cases so the 4870 should easily beat it.

If that 500GB is a Western Digital change it to a Seagate 500GB or even better a WD 640GB. Big speed difference.

Is that burner SATA?

You're buying a case with a PSU and throwing away that PSU. Why not just get a case without PSU and avoid paying for junk.

+1 for the HD 4870. Also, change the MB to P5E Deluxe X48 or GA-X48-DS4 or something else that allows Crossfire instead of SLI.

When does the 4870 come out? Is the motherboard good if I want SLI. I donno, my dad wants me to get nvidia so I am kind of stuck with that.

well the 4870 is an ATI video card...and its been out for lil while now...it will smoke the bujesus out of the 9800GTX+...not saying the 9800GTX+ is a bad card, but for the money you're dropping in this rig, you definitely are gonna want the 4870...unfortunately, you wont be able to sli with one of em, so that defeats the purpose of getting that expensive 3 way sli mobo...

What do you mean you can't sli(crossfire) them? you can't even crossfire two of the 4870's? that kind of sucks...

Well, yeah, that's why I said to change the MB too if you switch to the HD 4870. You can Crossfire two HD 4870 cards on an X48 board, just not on a 780i.
By the way, the x48 chipset usually makes better motherboards than 780i - yet another reason to switch.

In that case, I would recommend Intel's P45 chipset.

You won't be disappointed sticking with Nvidia. Your MB is a good choice. I would recommend going with a GTX260 for a real kickbutt gaming experience. I agree you should look for a tower that does not come with a build in psu. You can save some money by getting a Corsair TX750W psu...a Q6600 should work fine...and the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 cooler is high rated at a very reasonable price. I'm making these recommendations because it sounds like your dad may be involved in the process and to keep costs down. Why can't you buy at Newegg?

Well now that I know the MicroCenter near my house can put the computer together for me, I probably will not be buying from ibuypower (99% sure I'm not). I can get better parts for cheaper at MicroCenter rather than ibuypower (plus the people at microcenter know their **** and i trust them!). I think I am goona go with either a 780i chipset but most likely a 790i because i hear they are having almost no problems(unlike the 780i), a Q9450, corsair 750W or 850W, Xigmatex cooling, 4gb ram, and a gtx 260. Should be a kickin system (plus with the SLI ability of the 790i, I can always upgrade in the future!) Booyah! Thanks for all the help guys.

I'd still go with the X48 chipset and a 4870 - the chipset is better than the Nvidia, the 4870 is faster than a GTX 260, and you can always crossfire later.

I agree with cjl. GTX260 costs relatively the same as 4870, yet is outperformed by 4870. The Nvidia chipsets are utter craps (except 790i, which costs an arm and a leg), not to mention that Xfire does scale a lot better than SLi.
