Ok so i got an X48 DS4 and im looking into flashing the BIOS so it supports Advanced DES.

currently i have a pretty moderate OC = Q9450 @ 3.2

but basically for some reason when i try and use Qflash to flash the Bios from a USB Stick (Fat32) format
and having legacy USB enabled (i heard that was neccesary)

Qflash shows me two floppy drives, i have none. but as a test i clicked on A, nothing. B, it loads and shows that it has a capacity of 7.68g the same as my USB stick but it shows no files. im wondering if i have the wrong Bios file, but i believe i do it was a .f2 file. i downloaded this from gigabytes website then uncompressed it right onto the USB stick. What am i doing wrong?

note - i really dont want to have to resort to @Bios, but if i did, and it crashed, would the 2nd Bios just replace the half flashed Bios?

It should see the file. Is it in a directory that you didn't open or is it in the root directory?

The file should have an extension which matches the BIOS rev., so f2 would be rev f2.

I have never had a problem with Qflash and I wouldn't use @BIOS either, many do not agree.

The file is in there somewhere, if it's in a directory and you can't see it then move it to the root.

I wouldn't rely on the dual BIOS to save you.

I was hesitant to use that @bios but recently used it to flash my mobo, i didnt have any problems.

Yea try moving the bios file into the root.

Though... could it be that since your stick is fat 32 there might be a read issue with Qflash if it expects to see fat 16?

Isn't the purpose of duel bios to save you if you have a problem during flash.

http://www.tomshardware.com/review [...] 397-2.html not sure if that shows anything new.

Qflash will read Fat32.

Q-Flash only supports USB flash drive or hard drives using FAT32/16/12 file system.

hmm that was my only idea other, then what you said of it not being in the root...

i tried it again in the root and i double checked the file type is indeed an .f2 it just seems to not find it for some reason

I may indeed just use @Bios... although im scared too, but if i read that correctly if it totally fails, my second BIOS will just duplicate itself over the primary? also, is it bad to flash a BIOS while overclocked?

Use @bios. The second bios will take over just fine. That's why it's there. There is no risk involved. Your overclocking will obviously reset itself to default with a new bios. But otherwise, there are no obvious problems.
