New monitor for first build

All my new parts should be here tomorrow -- WOOT! Now I'm thinkin' that this ratty 5-year-old 19" crt aint gonna do right by my new build.

So what kinda good gaming monitors are out there... I was hopin to spend maybe $250-$275?

Any suggestions?

Why not just get a Dell 2408wfp
Trust me, if you're going to spend the $250 to get a monitor, you're going to wish you just went ahead and spend the $500 or $600 and got a really, really nice monitor that'll last you a while. Then you can always pickup a 2nd 2408wfp later on and go for duals!

I'm a web designer so it's nice to have everything up at once. I put my email, aim, etc. on my right monitor, all my folders, shortcuts, etc. on the left one for quick access, my graphics editor on my left 30" and and code on the right 30". I'll also usually have up Firefox, Opera, IE 6 and 7, and Safari to check for browser compatibility, so when I use Ultramon I can keep all browsers up on either the right or left monitor in a separate taskbar ready to view without having to take down fireworks/photoshop or dreamweaver, or shrink their window sizes.

Though these monitors did cost me a bit, and not everyone has money to spend on something as excessive, I honestly think investing in a good 24" monitor would be a wise choice. You're going to get a great quality image, and the resolution jump from 22" to 24" is quite significant. Honestly, you could probably even find a mid range 24" monitor out right now for less than 400, I just recommended the 2408wfp because it's probably one of the best 24" displays imo.

There's always the Dell E248WFP. It only has a 92% color gamut vs. the 2408WFP's 110%, although unless you work specifically with print or graphics you won't notice a big difference, and this one comes in at only $379

Honestly, you could even probably find a nice 2407wfp for really cheap on ebay. I have the gateway fpd2485w's that use the same panels as the 2407's, and the picture is great on them. Just a suggestion
