So I moved into my place fairly recently and it has CAT5 jacks in the walls.

All of the jacks in the wall (along with COAX) lead back to a central box that has the ends of the CAT5 cable without the ends on them. There's no power outlet near this box, and I have limited space since this box is in my utility room.

Now, I want to basically just get my ports in my place working so I can finally wire my 360 without stringing cables all over the place, as well as wire up a few other things.

How do I go about the best way of doing this?

To put ends on those cat 5 cables:
1) you need cat 5 crimping tool
2) cat 5/6 heads (make sure you buy quality ones, QVS is a good brand, otherwise you'll spend more time making it right)
3) Read http://www.ertyu.org/steven_nikkel/ethernetcables.html , there the order of Pins you MOST LIKELY need is "Straight-Through Cable Pin Out for T568B". Going with this, the wall pin order also needs to be T568B. Otherwise both ends should be T568A.
4) It is best for you to buy "cat 5 cable tester" on ebay or wherever since you never done this and you don't know status of existing wires. Buy it and test cables.

Hooking Internet:
1) Buy a SoHo router, wired or bundled wireless
2) Plug in network cable coming from your cable/dsl modem to WAN port of your router
3) Plug in your existing wires with newly created heads into ports of the router

Get a extension cable to power up the router and modem. That's it.
