If it's too much hassle to maintain one, and I don't know anything about servers, then can I pay someone to maintain it for me?

Yes, you can pay someone. There are hosting companies that rent out entire server for some amount (very expensive compared to just hosting your site). You can look for words like "dedicated ....". Of those companies, some are targeted towards individuals, some are towards businesses.

You could also look into colocating. Basically its your computer and you rent out rack space at their NOC. Typically the cost is based on the amount of rack units and a given amount of data transfer per month and you pay more if you go over. Something like that is going to cost bare minimum $100/month, most likely more. Unless you plan on using it to generate some sort of profit and really need alot of bandwidth, its probably not the best idea. If this is something you just want to do as a hobby and for fun, you're much better off getting a static IP from your ISP and setting it up on an old machine at home. I have many years of experience doing things like this and would be more than happy to advise you and help you get things set up. I love putting together networks/servers.
