Hi all. I just performed a new build using the new 780a board from Asus, the M3N-HT deluxe. Very pleasantly surprised at how everything worked - booted immediately using 2x2 gb of Mushkin ddr2 800 memory and a 45 watt 4850e processor. I chose this processor because I don't need any more horsepower to do the things I do, including occasional gaming. The most taxing game I currently play is Oblivion. I just couldn't justify getting a 95 or 125 watt processor. When the 65 watt phenoms hit, then maybe... Now just waiting to see what other hybrid power enabled gpus come out in the near future.

Anyway, the only issue I had was getting the RAID drivers to install to utilize a RAID 1 set. With this board, you set the SATA mode in the BIOS for all ports. If you choose RAID, Windows needs the RAID drivers for all drives attached - even a single boot drive. Boot will fail in RAID mode otherwise. I want to avoid re-installing the OS to do this, so does anyone know how to install the RAID drivers from within windows? I haven't been able to do this despite many attempts. I am guessing that the process might be similar to getting AHCI drivers installed. Until I get it fixed, I'm stuck in IDE mode for all drives.

I can't believe no one out there has had any experience with this board. I mean, I know the board is relatively new, but I was betting on a bunch of other early adopters out there...

Anyway, I have been researching this issue and have come up with very little information, other than that some people seem to be having similar problems in Vista (I'm using XP pro).

I installed XP with the SATA mode in the BIOS set to "IDE." The other options, which apply to all the ports, are "RAID" and "AHCI." After installing the chipset drivers, it appears that Windows ignores them and instead keeps the default IDE drivers. I have tried re-installing the drivers several times, even in safe mode, and they don't take.

Furthermore, if I try to change the SATA mode to either RAID or AHCI, I get a blue screen right after the splash screen comes up with an immediate re-boot.

My goal is to be able to run a RAID 1 set along with my boot drive. For the short term, I'd take just being able to use the nVidia sata drivers.

If anyone has any experiences here, please post!

Hi im having simular problem with the Achi drivers, now i can get them installed but for some reason i cannot use any of the other 4 sata ports for anything other than hard drives so i cannot use my sata dvd drive, I contacted coustomer support and they told me that ports 5 and 6 are for Raid , Achi only but for some reason when i swich the bios to Achi the board cannot reconise ports 1 to 4, therefore it cannot reconise my dvd drive or anyother sata devices that i connect to them, if i install a hard drive to ports 1 to 4 it shows that is is running on SCSI mode ie using the Ahi drivers that Asus said they are not compatable for, also if i tried connecting the hdd to ports 1 to 4 during install of o/s and Achi drivers and try and use a sata dvd player the system wont load, now this is a problem because Asus say that you have to conncet the hard drive to ports 1 to 4 during instalation of o/s as you have to install the drivers before connecting the hard drive to ports 5-6 or it wont work?
I followed there instructions and still it wont work, that leaves me with 2 options
option 1 is:

Use hard drive on Achi mode and dont have any access to the other 4 sata ports
option 2 is:

Use Ide mode and have acess to port 1-4 but not ports 5-6

You would think they would have tested the sata ports for Radi and Achi drivers before they started selling the dam things

And yeah i noticed that theres not much support out there for this board yet

The board is still kinda new, but I had a similar issue on my M3A32. When I enable AHCI (I heard I needed it enabled to make my Esata drive hot swappable) the other 4 sata controllers seem to disable when I enable AHCI. As soon as I do and boot, both hard drives are still recognized (not running raid), however my dvd burners on the other SATA controller are no longer recognized. Never found a solution, ended up switching back to IDE mode....

I know this may be a fairly old/dead thread, but I'm having a similar problem, and am wondering if anyone found a solution yet. I've been trying to install Win Vista 64, and just got a SSD. I was using 2 SATA HDs prior in RAID0 configuration. If I enable RAID in the BIOS, it detects the SSD I want to install, but if I try to have Windows install to it, it tries to overwrite my partitions I have set up on the RAID0, instead of installing to the SSD. I tried unplugging the 2 physical hard drives and install, but Windows doesn't boot then. If I set the BIOS to IDE mode, I can install and boot windows fine, but can't access my RAID0 set. Also, once installed, if I try to enable RAID in the BIOS again, I get bluescreen'd. I was using an M2N-SLI Deluxe before, and was able to select the SATA's I want in the RAID, and leave the rest to IDE mode. It's a bit imperative that I get my RAID set back up due to the amount of data I have on those drives (not to mention only having 64 GB to play with in Windows Vista is a bit pathetic). Was there any definitive solution found for this yet?

Where can I find basic information on ACHI?
I got RAID5 working well enough, but I still want to know.
I read problems with ACHI drivers can cause lots of trouble with SSD drives.
Thanks!
