I agree with Zorg. Actually, I don't think I have ever disagreed with Zorg. Maybe it's because of the pretty bold links. :D

Or the fact that he know a great deal about power supplies...

For a 30A on the 12V rail PSU, you can't beat it. If you go with the Corsair vx450w PSU it has 33A on the 12V rail, but is about $10 more after MIR. So you can decide which one suits your budget.

Mail in rebates are the Antichrist.

Now here's the hard question that I hate asking, would that extra $10 actually buy me anything in terms of performance? From my rough calculations, and the Antec PSU calculation tool (accuracy?) it appears that the Antec 430 should be more than enough to cover my needs. Yet, a stable PSU is extremely important, and $10 more is not much to pay for that stability, but I will probably not every use those extra 3 amps. I guess in the end it all comes down to price, and yes mail in rebates are one notch up from a kick in the crotch.

I always prefered having a little headroom when it comes to PSU. With age a PSU might not perform as well at it should and/or you never know when you might want to add something to your rig.

PSU issues are hard to diagnose because sometimes it makes OTHER component fail (not permanently, but still). One day your MB won't detect a HD, another day it will be the DVD player, ... for the price difference, I always get 50-100W more that I actually need.

It's a personal choice, I've seen too many people wasting time and money RMAing components just because they bought something cheap, had an aging PSU or simply added that GFX card they got for a bargain on eBay...

The VX-450 is better than the Earthwatts 430, but either should power your system with ease. Remember, the VX-450 isn't $10 cheaper, it's $10 cheaper after rebates. Refer to my above post for further details on rebates.

Thank you, although it is unwarranted.

Hey, also just saw a deal on newegg, they had an 8800gs card, it was the slower model 580mhz core, but it was running around 140, but had a 30 dollar rebate. Might be worth snagging to save a little.
