I think you could build a better one for about the same. The psu is weak only 300 watt's, memory isn't very fast, hd's are ATA and not SATA, graphics card is lame.

I'll include some parts you look up prices and see where it stands.

Look up these prices at buy.com and newegg and see what it totals, I think this will be around $700 and a much, much better configuration:

-
Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 Allendale 2.4GHz 2MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor - Retail
-
GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX All Solid Capacitor Intel Motherboard
-
Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit
-
Antec Sonata III 500 Black ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 500W Power Supply
-
2 - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 (Perpendicular Recording) ST3250620AS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
-
SAPPHIRE 100218L Radeon HD 2600XT 512MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Video Card
-
Samsung SH-S203B SATA

(Get the "Retail" version of the optical drive in order to get software with it. This will include the decoder you'll need to watch movies on it.)

If you are willing to take the step and build your own, here are some guides:

No, It's a Terrible Buy.

Here is a similar computer for less money AND 19" Monitor!

I'm not saying to buy the Dell, since you will need to decide if this is for gaming. In such cases you will need better Graphics which may mean a better PSU.

I would personally build yourself a WAY better machine for around $700-$800. Once you start buying cheap PC's it's hard to really determine if it's good or not. If you want a cheap PC for general use, sure it's fine. To me it looks like any other lowend prebuild.

I pieced a machine for a buddy of mine the other night for just under $800 and it blows that one clear out of the water. But then again you are doing the work to put together and install everything.

Sort of up to you really. Are you looking for a prebuilt machine or is doing it yourself a possibility?

I concur with Zenmaster, that dell is a better buy w/ monitor. Once you hit lower end PC's you can't compete with the big boys, they buy in such bulk you can't touch them.

Consensus with everyone else - don't bother with that machine. If you're just after saving a few bucks then go another route. The dell zenmaster suggested IS better than what you were looking for.

Save a few more with warranty? - outlet.dell.com (previously ordered new avoids refurbs)

Save lots of $$ without much warranty - build your own. Browse newegg and tigerdirect's list of barebone systems to see what's out there - then go purchase the list that mlaporta suggested or make your own list...people here go over such lists all the time :)

Thanks to all
This PC will be used for general and photoing and maybe some very light gaming. Only if I could build it myself. I'm the one who thought "that's cup holder"!!

Then I would go with the Dell zenmaster listed, that's a decent system from a decent company and comes with a display http://configure.us.dell.com/dells [...] WFA3&s=dhs

I like their outlet site.
I build my own PCs, but I get my laptops there.
The money saved usually lets me get a good warranty so I end up ahead.

I like the "expandable to 8GB" part. So they give you 4 slots, put a 1GB chip in each, leave you with two free slots, and they claim that allows you to bring it to 8 GB. How, by buying two 3GB chips, which don't exist?

Yeah, you're better off building yourself. You'd pay more, true, but you'd have much better performance in games and you'd be able to upgrade later and you wouldn't get all sorts of spyware and junkware already installed.
