I have an Acer Ferrari 4006WLMi running Windows Vista Ultimate. I'm pretty sure I did a clean install when upgrading to Vista as I had a beta version before that.

I was simply listening to music when all of a sudden I got a BSOD saying:

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. Please contact your system vendor for an updated BIOS.

Technical information:

*** STOP: 0x000000A5 (0x00000011, 0x00000007, 0xFFD0E010, 0x0100000E)

I've done just about everything I could think of.

Booting from the Vista CD and trying to run anything gives the BSOD
Booting in safe mode gives the BSOD
I've reset the BIOS.
I've toggled pretty much every option.
Enabled the Parallel Port(apparently it's a fix for some)
Looked through MS' support database

Tried booting with an Ubuntu Live CD. It fails to after a few seconds saying:

"<0>Kernel panic - not syncing : Aiee, killing interrupt handler!"

I've been told to try and reseat the HDD, but I'm not quite sure how to go about doing that. I've reseated the RAM and it didn't help.

Acer's BIOS updates need to be run through Windows...I have not been able to find one that will run off of a CD or floppy before Windows boots. It sounds like I need to update my BIOS...but I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to do that. Of course if there are any other solutions that would be good too. Any help would be appreciated.

Try a Linux Live CD, if that doesn't work, you have ahardware fault. Have you tried System recovery CD to original OS? Is it still under warranty?

^Yes. Also download UBCD and run MemTest86+ and other tests (ie HDD tests) and see if it shows up any problems. If it dose, you have a hardware problem.
