Hello, I'm a new OC'er and i wanted to know if i could oc a bit further with my intel stock cooler before i change it to a better one.
here are the CPU-Z and SpeedFan screenshots.

Well, im currently OC'ing my CPU,RAM and Graphics Card(with rivatuner).
I cant change a lot of things in my bios, so here are the current levels:
@JumperFree Configuration: CPU Frequency is 350 [100min - 450max]
DRAM Frequency is DDR2-875Mhz(max) [DDR2-525Mhz min.]
PCI Express Frequency is auto.

@CPU Configuration: CPU ratio adjustment is manual, Ratio CMOS Setting is set to 8(max).

@Hardware Monitor the CPU Temp. is 38C, Vcore Voltage 1.184V/1.192V [which i can only change to "Ingored"]

I would like to OC more than this but i dont know until which level it's safe, and what settings to change so that the system stays stable[if it is]. When I reboot it has a delay..it shutdown's and takes at least 2 seconds to start up again. dunno if its voltage issues, cos if it is i dont know where to change it @ bios.
btw, at speedfan's Core temps, idle @ 47/48C, and while playing/rendering video from after effects it reaches 65/66C.

@ the end of the BIOS screen it says "v02.53 bla bla American Megatrends,... " just so u know, cos @ CPU-Z it says a different version.

My Rig:
PowerSupply: 500w Colors atx.
PC Case: ThermalTake Soprano
CPU: Intel core 2 duo E8200 2.66Ghz @2.80Ghz 6MB L2 cache 1333Mhz FSB
Mainboard: ASUS P5GC
RAM: 4GB Kingston DDR2 667Mhz
HD: Samsung 500GB SATA
DVDdrive: Samsung black.
Monitor: DeLL
Graphiccard: ASUS nVidia GeForce 9600GT 512MB GDDR3 PCI.E 2.0
Soundcard: OEM Creative X-Fi - XtremeMusic - 24-bit - 192 kHz - 109 dB SNR - 7.1 channel surround
Keyboard: trust media keyboard
Mouse: razer lachesis phantom white

All i can say is use realtemp to monitor those temps.

Done, @ Real Temp Core temps are both 40C idle. Distance to TJ Max 54.
while playing, it reached 56C. cheers.

you can clock those babies to 4,0 ghz with good cooling... 3,4 or 3,2 might be good doable with the dual core, my Q6600 runs @ 3,0 atm and it isnt too hot...

Just aslong as those temps stay below 65 which i find a good limit.
Use prime95 Multicore, to stress your cpu and to see how high the temps go. Small FTT's should do the trick with that program.

4.0Ghz with a 500MHZ FSB on a Quad CPU?? You have to remember he has a X8 Mult on the CPU, the Q6600 has a X9...400X9=3600mhz...400x8=3200mhz. It makes quite a difference.

the thing is, i cant change FSB, Voltage and stuff separately. i change the Frequency and it auto changes the other parameters. :S what frequency should i put to hv at least 3.0Ghz? its @ 350 now, max is 450. cheers.

The CPU has a multiplier of 8 so you'll need a FSB of 375 to hit 3.0Ghz, 8 x 375 = 3000. I don't like to see temps above 60C, the temps are little high at 2.8 so I would recommend better cooling(better cooling doesn't mean pricey cooling) before moving further too much. With a cool CPU you'll hit the limits of the MB and RAM before you hit the peak of the CPU.

I have 2 case fans (a 120mm and an 80mm) and use this cooler and some Arctic Silver 5 for my E8200: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6835150082

I'm running at 3.6 on my rig with a FSB of 450 ~ 39C Idle and 55C load.
