Im looking for software or hardware to manage my network there are a dozen computers used for online gaming looking for software or hardware to maximize ping time on whole network.

I have heard of netlimter, cfosspeed any other software out there?

do you mean minimize ping time?

If you have about $10,000 you can always buy a layer 3 switch.

Nothing like routing at the speed of switching!

They just did an article on Toms Hardware about the Killer NIC that seems to have mixed ideas. I'd suggest waiting until they release the benchmark results. If it shows decent enough results you can always invest in them.

What happens is i have a dsl modem/router with 4 ports the 1st 3 ports are used on 3 computers upstairs 1 line drops in basement to 1gb switch 5 port.

7 more computers are hooked to this switch whenever the upstairs computer is running p2p the other 5 machines running online games ping time shoot up 200-400ms.

I have tried to limit upload from this machine even with 0 upload its still causes bad ping can't fiqure out why, if i run a p2p program on any of the machines in basement ping time does not change.

when ever i run a p2p app on 1,2,3 rest network suffers if i run p2p from 4 on no problems?.
