The 360 version is upscaled to 1080p from 1024x600 resolution (or it may be the other way around) either way it is low and strange and has 2x AA. On say a 24" monitor at 1920x1200 even without AA if the computer you are running on could handle the graphics turned up and all options on then there is no contest.

I own CoD 4 on PS3, 360 and PC. I play it on the PC you see in the sig on a 20" (1680x1050 res) lcd monitor with no AA and everything turned up and I can promise you that there is NO comparison other than modeling. The color definition and texture resolution on the PC is much higher and overall just better quality. Plus the the frames are better as I lose frames less often than the 360 or ps3 does.

From my own personal experience this is how the chain goes graphically. The 360 looks better than the PS3, but only marginally and the PC looks significantly better than both. That being said. It looks great on all 3, but I play it mostly on the PS3, which mind you...is my least favorite controller to play with of the 3 control schemes and it is the most laggy online, but none the less I have more friends playing on the PS3 and that is what matters most to me.

I have logged over a day of gametime in MP on my PS3, 360, PC and Laptop as well as beatin the SP on every platform usually playing a different difficulty. (I have not beatin veteran nor do I plan 2. lol) I have done side by side comparisons of all 3 platforms on the same TV and on the same Monitor and that is what I am basing this information off of.

So the answer the OP's question. No the 360 doesn't look better, but they all look and play good so just tell your friend to enjoy his game.

The 360 has no problem outputting in 1080p. Even in component it can be done as long as your TV supports it, but the VGA cable as well as HDMI do it for sure on every TV.

Depends on the output capabilities of the processing hardware ouputting the signal, and the display medium used to display such a signal...

WS = Widescreen

SAR Monitor - 1280x1024, or 1,310,720 pixels
21" WS = 1600 x 1200, or 1,920,000
1080P = 1920×1080, or 2,073,600 pixels
24"/27" WS = 1920x1200, or 2,304,000 pixels
dual-monitor = 1280x1024x2, or 2,621,440 pixels
tri-monitor = 1280x1024x3 = 3,932,160 pixels
30" WS = 2560x1600, or 4,096,000 pixels

so yes and no... if your friend has a 21" widescreen with max resolution of 1600x1200, there may be a very small difference in picture...

HOWEVER... you also have to take into account Textures and compress method... when u have to fit all information onto a DVD, bet there's a loss in quality due to compression... but on a harddrive that can store DVD's like DVD's store textures, the textures can definitely be made to shine...

in this case of CoD4 though... no... the quality is NOT better... the textures had to be compressed to fit the game, in it's entirety, onto a disk... they were compressed enough to loss quality, and on top of that, the game, to run smoothly, was coded for a smaller resolution, which the xbox then scales to fit the screen... it's a good question though

let's not forget that some super-highend TV's support a resolution higher than 1080p... the biggest one on record is an 8 MegaPixel TV (8,388,608 pixels) let's see your console output to that! heck, I'd like to see an xbox emulator set to run at xbox's native resolution run on a monitor without full screen... wonder how much screen size it'll take up!!

Also, the xbox can't scale graphics for output beyond 1080p so if we stepped it up, there'd be a HUGE difference in quality... speaking of huge, in regards to quality, how big are the pixels?
