Nope, this product will fail, I don't see it catching on.

I don't think intel is planning on making it a success, if you know what I mean.

I'm sure it'll sell more than the Quad FX.

This honestly looks like a some bastard board that was thrown together with parts they found lying around the R&D lab.

IMO there are just too many limitations using this board. FB-DIMM's?? Socket 771??

I think the only bright side to this side project is the fact that Intel worked with Nvidia. God knows that any true gamer or speed freak isn't going to use an Intel board that is relegated to Crossfire. And as far as I have heard, none of the new boards (x48) can run SLI.

So if you are going to build the ultimate gaming rig, you're going to go with an Nvidia chipset MB. Now if Intel can get Nvidia's blessings and build an X48 chipset MB that can run SLI, I'm in. Until then, I'm sticking to my 680i board and eventually upgrading to another Nvidia board.

This is just a waste of time and space to do an article on. I guess it's been a slow week in the tech world.

OK, I'll just be honest since most of you guys crapping on this and QuadFX are not being honest. I crave something like Skulltrail, its in my blood to want the most insane looking/performing computer on the planet. Its about 33% hobby, 33% ultility and 33% presentation. The fact is that I cannot afford skulltrail, it would be like a 4 year old owning a 454 mustang. I have no use for it. However, I can afford Quad FX and I have used it tremendously, The price/enjoyment ratio I experience seems to suggest that QuadFX does offer the same thing and does it cheaper. I've said this before; whenever Intel comes out with something that makes my mouth water, but the price kills my hardon, i will always seek out the less expensive, comparable performing AMD rig. QuadFX all the way!

I'm glad they created this board, if nothing else it renders at top speed. Besides just because they can't optimise 8 cores right now doesn't mean it won't happen soon and everything has to start somewhere. If they keep persisting we might see a dual socket Nehalem board with 16 cores total on it, cycling 32 threads at a time, by then games etc might actually thread the way they should. If NASA can spend trillions going to places no one gives a crap about, we can have a dual socket boards, dang right!! Keep at it Intel!!

Don't see why any one (except pro OCers) would need Skultrail esp. when Nehalm is just around the corner.
