Hi!

I recently bought an Abit IS7E motherboard and a P4 3.0Ghz HTT, to upgrade my computer. After installing XP I put in my old TCP/IP configs. It seemed fine, i could ping myself but not the gateway. After checking the settings again i installed my old network card and disabled the onboard one in the BIOS, but that didn't work either. I decided to borrow another network card from a friend, isntalled it, but the same thing. It just would work properly. I'm currently certain that the settings in TCP/IP are correct. SO my question is simply; is there something wrong with my motherboard? My old network card worked fine before, but now i just can't connect. XP isntalls te cards fine, and everything looks as if it should work, just that it doesn't...

I have no idea what to do, so if anyone has encountered a problem like this before, please let me know.

Thanks!

Could you please get a dump of ipconfig /all and route print??? best way to do this would be to type

ipconfig /all > temp1.txt
route print > temp2.txt

and then post the contents of the 2 files...

Also you checked the cables, switches, any other devices between you and gateway???

With 100 Million neurons in the brain vouching for it, it can't be wrong...

Why don't you just use DHCP?

Thing is, i can't use DHCP because I'm on the university network. I get an Ip adress from them which i have to use to be able to connect. And yes, I did go up to them and everything was green as far as they could see; no problems between me and the gateway. Anyway, I'm pretty sure the problem is with my computer since it worked fine yesterday with my old motherboard and cpu. I'm gonna go home and get those dumps and post them asap.

Thanks

Hi again,

Tried hooking up another computer to my connection, and everything worked fine. Also made a clean winXP install on my comp and I'm still having the same problem. Starting to get more certain that this is hardware related... If anyone has any ideas of what might be wrong, please let me know.

Thanks.
