I don't hate Apple, but I hate it when Mac users feel the need to talk them up. I'm in IT as well and I'm sick of people starting conversations with "...so I bought a Mac..." or "...so I'm buying a Mac..." or "...when are we getting Mac G5s (to run our POS software)..." Y'know what? I DON'T CARE SO STOP TALKING TO ME ABOUT THIS!! There is no arguing with them - it's like telling religious zealots there is no <insert God of choice here>.

Quality is quality. Apple succeeds (mostly) because it controls the hardware and software start to finish, whereas PCs can be comprised of components from hundreds of different manufacturers. If all I knew of the PC world was eMachines, I'd probably love Macs too.

iPods...meh! My 3rd generation has lasted well but the battery on my wife's mini died way before it's time. I like iTunes but I use QTFairUse6 to remove DRM from the music I buy.

Again, if any of my users at work are reading this, DON'T TRY TO SUCKER ME INTO CONVERSATIONS ABOUT HOW GOOD MACS ARE. Thank you.

I've never bought one, but they sure are stylish looking. Get an iMac with wireless keyboard, mouse & internet and you've got a 1 wire machine. That's a pretty slick setup.

I hate them because my pc and my K850i combined do everything Apple products can do for a lot less money :)

Free K850i on contract with a 4 gig memory card for my MP3, and I have an upcoming thread on my PC upgrade. Keep a look out for it :)

Well once they used x86 processors and an OS based on an OS based on *nix it was much easier to counter the fanboys with "I could just run linux on my PC, and then I wouldn't have to pay over $2000 for a glorified operating system".

Simply put I don't "hate" Macs, they are annoying to use, so I "dislike" them. I think I hate the fanboys, but then again, who doesn't hate fanboys?

This is old but I had to reply

"I also look at it like this. Microsoft is on their 6th OS. Apple is on their 10th or 11th OS. I am sure that when Microsoft makes their 10th or 11th Windows OS they will be far better than Apple's 10th and 11th OS. Sadly, most people overlook that. "

The number of operating system != The quality of the Microsoft or Apple

lol i know exactly what you mean, everytime someone asks me to fix their mac i just walk off. I really can't be bothered with the Mac setup. I'll help out with linux/windows. There is a way to make macs better -> bootcamp. the only good use of a mac is with windows :)

Well put. I couldn't agree more. Fanboys are annoying but a fact of life :D .
I'm not a fan of Macs, but I don't hate them. Mostly, I just think Apple products are rip-offs for what you get. By my area's standard, I'm a serious minority though.
The only Macs used in our area were in schools, and were crippled badly because they "had problems communicating with the Windows based servers." Therefore, there were very few Mac fans at my school ;)
The school's powerful Apple PC's: 5 eMacs, 2 @ 1.25GHz. The rest, around 40 of them, were the blueberry-style iMacs; some in the library were even still using OS 9 in 2007! Ouch man... Maybe you can see why they aren't overly popular in my area...
I have used a Mac outside of school - hell, I bought a used one - but I'm not overly impressed... Wouldn't recommend it over XP for too many reasons, personally...
By the way, isn't it common for Mac fanatics to try and make Windows the 'dark side,' though? Or anyone else, for that matter? What about the current Apple domination of the MP3 player market? ;) And no, I won't buy an iPod - too expensive, and too restrictive, in my opinion, no offence intended.

Also, Photoshop is available on PC. The funny thing is that people who use Apple for photo editing will say how their Photoshop programs are so much better, when any PC user can go and buy the same thing and have it run faster on PC vs. a Mac.

Not only that, once the Macanites are done Macing out on their Macphoto editors, they jump onto Microsoft Internet Explorer, or Microsoft Office. I have to admit, these are great innovations from Apple! Who would ever of thought that Apple would have to use Microsoft programs! I do understand they do not have to use these programs and yes there are office programs that come with Mac's free and web browsers as well. Its not that point, but the point that Mac's are found a lot with Microsoft application on it.

Apple and PC are two platforms that you can choose from. Linux is another. There is nothing better or wore from any platform to make one the best one to chose from.
- If you do not like to have the ability to customize you computer then PC or Linux is not for you.
- If you like to get screwed over and over from you OS vendor then Apple and Windows is for you.
- If you like to waste money on a system then Apple is for you.
- If you like a system that claims they are more secure then Apple is for you.
- If you want a free OS that will let you do anything, the Linux is for you.
- If you are trendy the Apple is for you.
- If you find yourself worrying about your nails and if you look fat in this, Apple is for you.
- If you like to live in a dream world where nothing can hurt you, Apple is for you.
- If you like to game, Windows is for you.
- If you like to video edit, pick any OS. They can all do it.
- If you like to picture edit, pick any OS.
- If you like to sound edit or create music, pick any OS. They all do it.
- If you like a company who says this that they can finally do that Linux and Windows has been doing for years, the Apple is for you.
- If you are educated, then Windows or Linux is for you. (I say this because after doing research, you will find Linux to be the smartest possible OS, but you will have to do some work with it to get it to do everything. Windows for the people who just want to use a computer that will work with everything.)
- If you like a company who is on their 10th or 11th OS and is bragging about it.... Then Apple is for you. (Honestly this is kind of sad. It took 10 or 11 tries to get it where they are at now... They are now a step away from dirt... they are crap!)

Please, add to the list!

One thing PC's do need to take from Macs is the easy network setup. See, at work, we use all static IP addressing, so when you move from building to building, in windows you'd either have to have alternate configurations, or change your IP manually. However, in OS X, the nice part is they let you set locations, so you can have like 20 locations, each of them can have the specific settings, passwords etc for where you are at. All you have to do is click the apple button, go to location, and pick where you are, and your done. PC's need something like that. And before you bash me, I may use Macs, but I've still got my new PC.
