Yea.. considering the law suit against them about pricing and blocking sites from inside their store..

Not to mention that they normally don't carry the best of the best, normally are overpriced, and the associates know less than the average person on Toms.. yea.. it can be bad.

I prefer Microcenters, Frys, and places like that... Best Buy to me would be like saying you shop at Wal-Mart for clothes to a Fashion Designer... is that a good metaphor? I shop at Target.

Best Buy is owned by Rupert Murdoch who also owns Fox News and a truckload of other copanies. Given Murdoch's fasict ways I would rather -never- buy from any company he has any control of.

If you don't know who he is Google him,the people in AU/UK/USA his "free press" puts into office and his treatment of Ron Paul.

Okay I'll keep that in mind...

My friend constantly shops at Bestbuy, been trying to persuade him to buy at Frys.

Problem was it was when the 8800GT just came out.

FRY's had low stock and had a sale on them.

Those bastards.

I saw an article that said that Best Buy raised the prices of all XBOX Controllers and other accessories a few weeks prior to the release of HALO 3 well knowning that they were going to sell more systems.

I hate it when companies take advantage of consumers.

That ticks me more than Fry's not having enough stock of on sale items!

Lol... Not sure if the other stuff was in there, but at one point they were also blocking incoming and outgoing web requests from PDAs and Smart Phones inorder to block their external website from being accessed from within the store (this was alledgedly the case).

That is a good link. I never buy from best buy. I will window shop. Look at stuff. But I always leave empty handed and then shop later that night on newegg.com.

I hate Best Buy.

Are you guys retarded? Who cares about their other prices, or who owns them. Always buy whoever has the best price at the time, in this case Best Buy. They still have a price that trumps newegg on the 3870. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspag [...] 4053242087 Free shipping when I ordered it for a friend, not sure now.

Really? Call us retarded because we choose not to support companies which we have issues with? God forbid we have morals or something of the sort and don't support companies we don't agree with.

I wouldn't buy a product from Visiontek anyways. I don't know if I would consider them reputable enough.

On the ATi side I will only buy from: HIS, Sapphire, and Diamond. On the nVidia side I purchase from eVGA, BFG, and XFX.

Well frankly that is stupid. You not buying from them wont have an impact on that company... however it will impact your wallet. So yes I'd say thats retarded. I don't know about visiontek's warranty service but the card was fine, running at 850/2600 now.

Can someone explain to me what the deal is with people talking up Fry's? You go to their website now and they have terrible prices on cpus and graphics cards... I mean do they just have some insane deal on a hot item every month? I mean in general their prices suck so i don't get it.

You are right. Because there are people such as yourself who don't care about corporate pricing in the long run and only care about getting a good deal for yourself, my choice of buying or not buying from certain places will have rougly zero net impact. Perhaps though I can sleep better at night knowing that although I payed an extra $20 atleast I didn't support a company which I think is using unfair practices.

Anyways, we just have different opinions, you don't need to call me stupid and retarded because I disagree with you. That's ok though, atleast we know your immediate defense mechanism.

Still, there are times when BestBuy is useful. That is, if you have already done your research and know what you want, and a BestBuy is nearby, and you wait for a nice sale, you can get bargains. I got my new Logitech Z-5500s during Boxing Week at a price much lower than Newegg's :) I also like them when they have sales at LCDs because I can check for dead pixels before I buy. But yeah, they are definitely overpriced compared to the small computer shops or the online retailers.
