will gta4 (upcoming) will be able to run on 3850?
Forum Graphic & Displays : Graphics Cards - will gta4 (upcoming) will be able to run on 3850?
hey guys i was thinking to get a 3850 and oc it little bit...so my question is can it handle the upcoming GTA (grand theft auto)4?...any guess
Probably. It is designed to be released on consoles too, so technologically it should run on your HD 3850. A lot, however, depends on how well the port to PC is, but I think you'll be fine.
thanks for da reply sealboy....i would be putting this wid a p35-ds3l thats what i m gonna buy and a yorkfeild or a q6600...i have a 19"widescreen by da way but its not a problem as i will run it under 1280x....resolution so, a 256mb graphic card be ok??
I would say they probly wont make the port much better than the console versions, which from past games dont concentrate on the graphics as much as i would have liked because of the larger environment. I would say a 7800GT and above would be enough (Around the same GPU as the ps3 i beleive)
Thats just my thoughts.

San Andreas ran perfectly with mods (never lag or CTD) on my GF4200ti so I doubt the GTA will break their genre tradition... will probably be DX9 as well judging from the PS3 screenies.
hmm...but i would be better off with a 3850 because than i could max out at everything. by the way what other graphic card u recommend for it
256MB is OK for resolutions of 1280x1024 and less, but it won't be for long. My advice is to save your change and get a 512MB HD 3850 - you won't be dissapointed.
give me some advice my current system is p4 631 (3.0ghz). and a motherboard with inbuilt graphic card, so what should i replace first i have 175$
stonecold burn your system....
ahahaha i aint that stupid man
jkin...hmm i will be replacing cpu, mobo and gfx card...so i am confused seriously what to buy first
You're not going to able to replace a mobo, CPU AND graphics card in $175... you'll need atleast $300 for that.
yup i knw i will do it step by step...actually my ques was what to take first like cpu or graphic card because if ill take mobo i would need a gfx card too...
What mobo do you have... chances are you won't be able to do anything without replacing the mobo.
i have a pcie mobo it have only 8x bandwidth lines, but i dont care as i will buy another mobo....it would be able to run HD 3850.
Wait... can you tell me the exact model you have? There's a chance you might not have to do a complete overhaul, which would save you money.
its GA-8I945GZME-RH ....its the worst mobo i have ever seen no ocing at all
only u change the memory timings
Is GT4 even coming out for PC? Haven't heard any news.

Ok, I think your best bet is a motherboard upgrade before you do anything else. Here is a good one. Unfortunately it doesn't have builtin graphics - few Intel boards do.
but what about the gfx card ....i would just put on my pc without a gfx card.?.
lolz
The 3850/3870 should be more than good enough for GTA IV at 1280x1024. 512+meg for anything higher than 1280x1024.
Or just wait for the 3870-X2/ 9800GTX, then you never need to worry about upgrading until GTA IV - part 3 is finished.
I agree with most, you need a new motherboard/CPU or that will be the bottleneck (not the video card). A low-end C2D will be more than good enough for now. Or a Yorkfield and you won't need to upgrade the CPU for many years to come.
The mobo sealboy suggests is a good one. If you want to overclock, then you should get a more high-end mobo with high-end RAM.
There is no GTA IV for the PC, I will just assume it will get ported like all previous GTA games.

Well, in that case, you basically have two options. You can buy this card with it, and then sell it for $10-15 when you save up to buy a 3850, or you can go with one of these motherboards, which will give you limited upgrade potential (like only 2 RAM slots) in the long run (but will support any new CPU and videocard within your budget).
ahah these **** gfx will be not available here i live in dubai (u.a.e)...so i was thinking to buy a 3850 and after like 2 months i will buy a ds3l and then a a yorkfeild
ok, that seems good enough. Try to get the 512MB version of the 3850 though, it will help in future games.

There's never any news when it comes to the PC versions, but they always do, usually a few months after the console version. So it'll be july to september maybe, don't know why the OP is worried about running a game so ahead on current hardware.

man i can't buy a ps3 its so damn pricey...so better to buy controllers and make a gaming pc..
from trailers it seems that new gta use old graphic enegine with extra glow and better textures so 3850 should be enble run just fine
gta4 should run fine on that card, probably wiht maxxed out eye-candy, even at the resolution.

Judging from that... does anyone have a very rough estimate about requirements? I ran San Andreas with absolutely no lag/loading time trouble/gfx errors (dont know on which gfx setting though) on a 4200ti 128mb + 768mbddr1 - so here minimum should be around GF6 (pixelshaders)?
i can run sanandreas on my inbuilt gfx.

I think we have a long wait for for this. I saw a rumor that the the UK release will be April 25th on PS3 and Xbox 360. This is interesting though, becuase usually only PS carries GTA (and it seems to be the source of the delay). In the past, GTA3, Vice City and San Andreas took 6 months to make it to PC after console release. At least both console systems are dx9 based, a 3850 will have no trouble.
I just saw they are bringing back multiplayer as well, ala GTA1/2!
But do not worship it,
For it shall pass.

all cards fall in price when new cards come out and as hardware gets older.
