To my disappointment the MSI K9N SLI Platinum despite MSI stating the MoBo is under testing for Phenom (Agena core) it simply doesent work with that processor. Now most of you would just say DUH but look from my perspective saying under testing means that the board could eventually-and hence the testing-support Phenom, otherwise MSI should just declare the board N/A to Phenom processors. NOOOOO, they say the processor is under testing. How is this a big deal to me?! Well first of all most evidently by now I own an MSI K9N SLI Platinum which I’m contempt with rather, until now, but I wanted a Phenom as it seemed the best upgrade for my work and gaming and most cost worthy (apart from gaming I do need extra rendering power, and crysis and supreme commander like more cores) so i got a phenom only to realize that the system-even after flashing my bios to the MSI latest for my board-hangs at boot, and I don’t meen OS boot, u click the power on button hear a slight fan fizz and nothing, the D-Bracket glows red all four. WOW, isn’t this a “pleasant” surprise. Now to get me even more hyped up, I live in Macedonia and the only Phenom processors we have now is potentially one Phenom 9500 that the owner of a computer store ordered for show, and I actually got my aunt from SWITZERLAND to bring me a 9600 (I EMPHESIZE FROM SWITZERLAND, and for the geographically unacquainted Macedonia is the country bordering Greece’s northern border) waited for like a week and GOD DAMN S**T F**K my system just hung on me. Freakin’ MSI, u could just SAY THE MOTHERBOARD DOESEN’T SUPPORT PHENOM. Phenom apparently requires an 8 megabit chip (1 MB) BIOS and K9xx boards have a 4 megabit (512 kbyte) BIOS baaaarght. I Could have ordered an FX board something or at least consider ordering the processor a little later damn it. So other that my frustration I would also express a welcome to anyone who might have experienced a similar situation such as mine, and possibly found a solution or a workaround to it.
