Ok now that's it, I need help to choose a high end psu. I built my computer 2 months ago:

P5N32-E sli
C2D e6850 - Thermalright ultra 120 extreme
BFG 8800 GTX OC2 - Thermalright HR-03 plus
4gig Crucial Ballistix ddr2 800
2 x Raptor 74gig Raid 0
2 x Caviar 250 gig Raid 0
OCZ 700W Gamexstream
p182 case
Thermalright hr-05 and hr-05 sli

I plan to add a second 8800gtx in sli

At first I had a OCZ gamexstrean 700 which was noisy and I experienced instant shutdowns with it. Now I have a Ultra x3 1000w and it's almost perfect but it's stills too noisy for my taste.

Now, knowing that I find these 2 psu too noisy, which one would you recommend me?? I'm looking at the coolermaster real power pro m1000 and I would like the Be Quiet Dark Power pro 1000w but it seem's hard too find. Any suggestion for a QUIET and quality psu? Price isn't really a problem because after having spent so much on a computer, it pisses me off to have a noisy system.

Please no "I read a review about a quiet psu", I mean every company claims to have "silent" or "ultra quiet" or etc. psu.

Thanks

Well... thats easy... Any PSU rated 600W+ and by a respected manufacturer eg Corsair/Thermaltake/Antec/OCZ

18db before ramp up amperage. Also, bigger fans are generally quieter and that has a 140mm fan, the largest you'll find.

I own the HX620W and its pretty quiet (22db).

I have this it will take care of your needs very well and if you look in the forums under my name there is a 20 doller off code for this PSU that might still work.

My total price for this PSU was $139 and it's tier one!

Consult this list. Good deals right now are Corsair PSUs.

Ok Thanks! I finally decided to go with the seasonic m12 700w. I prefer it over the corsair because it is modular and it looks very quiet and quality made.

I'll post my feedback as soon as I'll receive it.

great choice but just so you know, Seasonic not only makes their own PSU but Corsair's and Antec's. So when you buy a Corsair or Antec PSU you're just buying a Seasonic product with another manufacturer's sticker on it. And Corsair is also modular.

I've been trying to pin down whether Seasonic makes the whole Antec line or not. I know that Corsair's VX550 and TX750 are made by Channelwell but I can't find anything about Antec.

I know that the neo series and earthwatts series are made by seasonic, almost certain that this is the case for the TruePower Trios and Quattros, but can't be 100% sure. I think that Antec should let the trios die anyway, they're already past their prime (And bested in every shape and form by the Neo series), people should only buy Quattros, Neos, or Earthwatts from Antec.

If you are looking at the Cooler Master/Coolermaster as an alternative then you need this list. That Coolermaster real power pro m1000 may be a lot better, but I would check it out.

Ok I just installed my new seasonic m12 700w and, listen to me people looking for a very quiet psu: This is finally the answer to my questions!! This psu is REALLY quiet I can't hardly hear it even under load (gaming or Orthos+2xRthdribl). Two great stress tests by the way: http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/rthdribl/
http://sp2004.fre3.com/

Now, I don't have a multimeter so I can't see how my rails hold up (I don't trust softwares at all for that) so I'll let one blend test from Orthos and 2 Rthdribl stress test run simultaneously all night if if my psu holds up I'll consider my system now completed and to my liking!

Thanks for everybody's input and I'll write back tomorrow

Ok then, after 12 hours of blend Orthos and Rthdribl stressing my system, no problem found. I think I found the right psu for my needs. The little fan was very long to kick in and when it did, I didn't hear a difference.

This Rthdribl is amazing, normally while gaming my 8800gtx never reachs more than 66-67 deg (core temp, not ambient) but with this stress test, it was a steady 72 degree.

Anyway, that concludes my story
