Phenon 9600BE overclock
Forum Overclocking : CPUs - Phenon 9600BE overclock
HELLO!
im running a quad core system:
M3A32-MVP DELUXE (bios version: 801)
PHENOM 9600 BE (revision DR-B2)
OCZ 2x1GB DDR2 pc2-6400
LEADTEK 8800GT GTB 512MB
ANTEC SONATA III (EarthWatts 500w ATX12V)
Vista Ultimate 32-bit
im having problem booting my system ocerclocked to 2.6ghz. 2.4 & 2.5 is bootable. when vista starts i get a bluescreen telling me there is a hardware problem. in both of these articles the phenom is set to 2.6ghz with standard core voltages. in one of them tom's are using the same motherbord with the same version of bios and still overclocks it sucssessfully, i wonder how? what could be failing in my system? psu? instalation? cpu/motherboard broken?

THANK YOU FOR ANSWERS!
use CPUz show me the voltage. My First AMD Phenom 9600 Black Edition would not even boot into Vista at 2.5GHz with out a BSOD and sence I rma'ed my Phenom I can hit 2.8-2.9GHz with slight voltage increase. And what day did you Buy Phenom? I've noticed the earlier versions of the Black Edition fails to Overclock well. And I have the same motherboard as you do. Also disable Cool n' Quiet if you did not and spread spectrum as well needs to be disabled. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/ [...] -9600-6ghz

Run memtest to be sure it's not memory... if that's good return it and buy and Intel!

let him buy what ever he wants. He already has a am2+ board

What? ATI makes great graphics cards! How are you gonna downplay the best cpu in the world.
All I'm saying is to run memtest before you determine that your cpu is the culprit in the overclock.

If it's not your memory or PSU, it's most likely the cpu. Many people are complaining that they bought the Black Edition to OC, yet unable to OC properly.

You aren't using the stock cooler are you?
Nothing wrong with ATI cards at the moment, other than there seems to be a lot of games optimized for Nvidia, wonder what would happen if things were the other way around.
Run Memtest, then once you get into Windows, Run Prime95 25.6beta, small fft's for processor stability check, and blend for memory stability check. Best would be being able to hit 8h plus each for the prime tests.
With the total package there, you may be running short on power. Also make sure that for some reason, it didn't autoclock your ram to 1066 mode, in the bios, make sure your timings and voltages are set to manufacturer spec for your ram as well, since some mainboards default to 1.8v on the newer platforms.
Thats the problem with the Phenom BE, there is no guarantee about being able to get any OC. And the problem is, one will OC different with stability at lower or higher voltages than another will.
