You could check out Killer Notebooks... I forget if the site is .net or .com or whatever but I know the guy that runs the site puts out a quality product and garauntees his work.

That's what I'd recommend for 'other options'.

Based on the two there... I'd go with the top one for its higher resolution... but that's just me.

However that 8600M GT won't be adequate for gaming at either 1440x900 or 1680x1050 for that matter, but the 8600M GT actually performs EVEN WORSE (As hard to believe as you may find it to be) than the desktop 8600GT. You could only play current titles at 800x600 or 1024x768 lowering settings and that's tuning down a few settings here and there.

Mtech makes a notebook with an 8700M GT or a GO 7950 GTX (best mobile video card available) that starts around $1650, I would look at them. http://www.discountpcsales.com/cgi [...] TECHM570UR

they also make a laptop that uses desktop c2d processors, these start at around $2K
http://www.discountpcsales.com/cgi [...] MTECHD900C

Ava direct has some decent deals on notebooks.
There is an AMD system with an HD2600 (not sure how it will hold up to gaming) TL-60 and the works for around 1500$
http://www.avadirect.com/product_d [...] ?PRID=9129

Intel solutions:
E6600 with 8600M GT and decently configured for 1650$
http://www.avadirect.com/product_d [...] ?PRID=9189

Same system as above but with a T7500 for 1600$
http://www.avadirect.com/product_d [...] ?PRID=8994

The big rig with a GO 7950 GTX for $2100+
http://www.avadirect.com/product_d [...] ?PRID=9170

All of the above systems can be customized. To get the prices I did I used 2GB RAM, 160GB HD (5400RPM),wireless a/b/n (when available), bluetooth (also when available), and Vista Home Premium, both Mtech and AVA direct default to no OS installed on their initial configs. I have not personally purchased a computer from either Mtech or AVA direct, so I don't know how their service ect will be.

your grammar hurts me...jesus

Anyways, as said earlier...8600M GT will *not* play any games at more than 800x600...and it will be sad at that res.

7950gtx destroys the 8600...its not hard to do the math :pfff:

Try customizing an hp dv9500t at their website.

from my personal experience, I seriously wouldn't advice a gaming laptop. I'd rather spend the money on a desktop coz i will get better specs with that kind of money. Also keep in mind the weight of a powerful laptop (if 17" ) and short battery life.

but if u really need a gaming laptop for whatever reason, try to get the 15.4". Ur shoulder will thank me later :)

I also think 7950gtx is your best bet in a laptop, although I still think it wouldn't hurt to look at KillerNotebooks, if I buy another laptop someday it'll probably be from them.

If you want to get a laptop thats light on gaming I would recommend the Dell Vostro 1500. For less than a $1000 you can get a T7100 (1.8 GHz) with 2GB RAM, 120G HDD, 8600GT, DVD/CD RW, B/G/N wireless and Bluetooth. Saves you $700 that you can put towards a desktop gaming rig (that can really game).

http://configure.us.dell.com/dells [...] wk7x&s=bsd

This is from Dell small business, so it probably wont be a flashy computer, but its cheaper and more reliable than if you got it from their home section. ($1400 for an equivalent Inspiron) It's also a 15.4 inch display so it will be smaller, lighter and have better battery life than a 17 inch monster.

Killer Notebooks are expensive, so it would depend on your budget. I'm a firm believer though that you get what you pay for with things like laptops.

If you want my 2 cents, the only advice I have is get something with the best video and largest video RAM you can afford.

You want be able to upgrade most laptops later.
What ever laptop you get now, your stuck with for the life of the laptop.
(of cause you can upgrade hardrive and system RAM) but your screwed on upgrading video.

P.S. if it's for gaming, get rid of Windows Vista !!!

Seriously dude, dump Windows Vista and the 4GB of RAM.

Vista is a worthless piece of C**P, unless you get the Ultimate editon and use Aero 3D, and even then Vista still sucks.
And gaming performance takes a huge hit, and don't expect to play any DirectX 10 games on a laptop.

Stick to XP Pro, and 2GB of RAM.

And you'll never get serious sound out of a laptop either, so forget that idea.
Put your money into the BEST video card and CPU that you can afford.
Then compromise between screen upgrades and hard drives (get a 7200rpm option)

Reply to bfg72

oki .......... thanx for de info . i am going for 7950gtx 512mb . 2 gb ram , 160gb hdd , t7200 2.2 4mb cache , i hope dis can handle gaming 2 some level .

dont even think of SLI 8600GT , because a single 7950GXT beats it , also SAGER is a good company , it has very good laptops with good price range(compared to ALIENWARE and DELL ) ,there are tons of pepole who are happy with their SAGER :

Btw, Toshiba has one just slightly above that price range with an HD-DVD drive (think it comes with 5 free movies) along with an 8700 series GPU.

Want more? For $1999 they have one with SLI'd 8600's.

That Toshiba is a really nice laptop for $1500, but it come with vista which means the meager 1GB of ram it comes with need to go to 2GB, which will cost you $70 shipped from newegg
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] +(2+x+1GB)
or $80 for an extra GB stick from Toshiba (if you get an extra stick from Toshiba call and ask them if there are two DIMMS or one in it default).

I am not sure how much better the 7950 GTX is vs the 7900GTX, but its better, the tomshardware best graphics cards for the money other section has the 7950GTX rated one section higher then the 7900GTX,
