XFX Geforce 6600gt

Here is mine. Not exactly a show off rig either, but it has room to be upgraded.

Will probably get an energy efficient AMD 64x2 6000 later this fall then get a 2nd 1950GT to crossfire and I will have a much more formidable gaming machine.

Specs:
MSI K9 Platinum AM2 Motherboard
AMD 64x2 4200 (65W)
2 Gigs Kingston Hyper-X DDR2 800
250 Gig Western Digital Sata Drive
Sapphire Radeon x1950GT
700 Watt OCZ Technologies Game Stream PSU
LG optical drives

Thread : The PC that mad-dog built
Profile: addict

These are my system specs...........
This is my version of a budget system,
simple all-purpose rig that does what it's told,
No overclocking, 3DMark06-8771
Boot time to loaded desk-top in 1.18 minutes
_____________________________________________

Case: Thermaltake full-tower
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6811133032
I set mine up with a pair of 120mm fans in the front,
the chimney vent has a 120mm fan, another 120mm fan on the back wall,
above that is a 90mm fan drawing air thru the removeable HDD cage.
______________________________________________________________

PSU: FSP Group 700W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6817104026
I can't describe how reliable and solid this PSU is,
I don't have to worry each time i boot the system,
It works long, hot days and never complains.
________________________________________

Motherboard: ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813131011
There's a reason this motherboard was elected 2x winner of customer choice award.
_________________________________________________________________________

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ 2.6GHz
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6819103759
I've always had good-luck with AMD, there are better choices but it works just fine for me,
waiting on K10 prices before upgrading to the 6400+ 3.2GHz version.
__________________________________________________________

CPU Cooler: ThermalRight Ultra-120 Extreme
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6835109140
It's big and ugly but it's the next best thing to water,
Yet another 120mm fan as the Heat-Sink does not include one.
_______________________________________________________

RAM: Geil 4 x 512MB DDR2-800
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820144020
Runs Cool and quiet, 1.8V RAM, works great.
_________________________________________

GPU: EVGA 8800GTS 320MB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814130082
EVGA has a great step-up program, plays all my graphics-intensive
flight-sims with settings maxed out.
________________________________

GPU Cooler: ThermalRight HR-03+
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6835109136
This is nothing more than a HR-03 with 2 more heat-pipes and larger mounting block.
Chalk up a 92mm fan to supplement the awesome cooling power.
________________________________________________________

HDD: A pair of Seagate 320's in RAID 1
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6822148140
These are so nice that I'm adding a second pair and reconfiguring for RAID (0+1).
_____________________________________________________________________

Monitor: Viewsonic VA1912wb
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6824116074
Very similar to mine, great picture, built-in speakers.
_____________________________________________

Keyboard: Saitek Eclipse
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6823175103
Keys and board are backlit using blue LED's.
_____________________________________

Mouse: Logitech 2-button optical
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6826104019
Nothing fancy, old-reliable, goes where you point it.
_____________________________________________

Total Fans: 7, 5-120mm, 1-80mm, 1-92mm
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6811999127
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6811999121
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6835226006
________________________________________________________________

OS: Microsoft Windows XP Pro SP/2
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6826104019
Switching to Vista Ultimate when DirectX-10 is more prevalent in gaming software.

theworminator,
If I ever do update my laptop those are the specs I want. Nice piece, I especially like the DB9 on the back. I still use that and I don't like dealing with the damn USB to DB9 hassle. No one has DB9s any more.

Thanks, I'm a successful chemical engineer with a girlfriend of 3 years who's getting her PhD, I don't need to hear your pointless dribble. Sometimes people need to take their own advice. Computers are just a hobby for me, not a lifestyle, as I suspect they are for you.

Solider 37,

What is that green light underneath your monitor? Is that a cold cathode? Is that thing wired directly in to your computer or is it wired in to an AC outlet? Does it give off much heat? How did you do that? Where did you buy it?

Redice,

How do you like that Logitech WAVE keyboard? Is that thing practical for gaming? I have tried it typing and it is awesome. Very comfortable. Just far as gaming I felt like it might be unconventional.
