I just bought a Kingston HyperX 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1375 (PC3 11000) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail, and I'm wondering if I should buy another one, since I won't be upgrading for a long time after this.

I paid $295 + $18 for shipping = $313 US, and if I buy another one it would be $600 + $18 = $618 US for the equal of 4GB, is it worth it to get another 2GB or should I stick with the 2GB?

eventually 4GB will be worth getting (and for some people its worth it now even), but, its going to depend largely on what you do, too. if youre using vista x64, possibly. if youre doing photoshop and such, possibly. if youre gaming, possibly.

but, just because you said you wont be upgrading for a long time afterwards, years at least, go for the 4GB. going with at least a quad core, is also something to consider too then (unless you already have a quad core out of preparation). but if you dont already, quad cores (as with everything), should be dropping in price after not too much longer, but, that would involve upgrading, so, yeah..

I would say upgrade, but not now. 2GB is fine, upgrade when DDR3 prices descend from the sky. $600 for RAM is insane.

Is it too late to return the DDR3 and the motherboard and get DDR2 versions? You're paying a ton more for RAM than I did and you're only going to get about 5% more speed. Not worth it, really. You might as well use that money to upgrade from Q6600 to QX6850 for example.

Speakers: Z5500, if you are looking in the $300 range.

Well, I bought the RAM from eBay so I have to pay for it no matter what.
I'm saving $219.08 because I bought it on eBay.
