I asked a store to put together a system for me and just to give me the parts and details and then I would research it a little further. Here's what he came up for me.

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz 8MB/1066FSB S775 CPU, Retail
Asus P5KC iP35 S775 ATX Mainboard w/Audio/GB/DDR2&DDR3/eSATA/FW
OCZ Vista-Upgrade 4GB DC PC2-6400 DDR2 Memory Kit
Seagate 7200.10 500GB 7200RPM 16MB SATAII Hard Drive, 5Yr
LG GSA-H62N 18X DVD+/-RW SATA Drive BLACK, OEM
BFG Geforce 8800GTS OC2 320MB PCI-E Video Card
Antec SonataIII Mid-Tower Case w/500W PS, Black
Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition DVD (64Bit - OEM)

My question is this. I told him that I wanted Nvidia graphics so he gave me an Nvidia graphics card. However, when I did a little research on the MOBO it seems that the MOBO supports Crossfire technology.

Correct me if I'm mistaken but isn't crossfire technology supported only with ATI graphics cards?

Does this mean that I cannot put 2 Nvidia cards on my system because of that MOBO?

If yes, then I would have to point this out to the person who put this system configuration together for me and see what he has to say.

Thanks.

U can put a single card in a Crossfire or SLI motherboard , but u cant use 2xNVIDIA cards in a crossfire board (like yours) and viceversa

So if down the road I wanted to put 2 nvidia cards then my MOBO needs to be replaced I guess.

However, since the system hasn't been put together yet what MOBO would you recommend if I wanted to take advantage of SLI.

I would prefer to stick with the P35 chipset though. I'm not sure if P35 supports SLI.

I did the same thing. Honestly I decided it didn't really matter.
I built mine out with ddr2 for now and went with the Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz 8MB/1066FSB S775 CPU and one Geforce 8800GTS OC2 w/ 320MB and the

I saved a lot of money building it this way and fwiw, my plan is to upgrade to ddr3 when the price of memory comes down, upgrade the cpu and then I also figure I can go with the ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 or something similar and put dual cards in if I have any reason to need them.

I was hoping I could use the 1333 memory but have been hearing some bad things about those chips working on these boards. Hope I have heard wrong.

Thanks for the response Brad. You have almost the same system as me except I have 640mb on my video card.
