It's past July 22nd now, and I was wondering when we will actually start seeing the E6850, E6750 on pc's, namely Dell, and also when we will actually see the price drop on the Q6600 to 266.00. I've had 2500.00 bucks burning a hole in my pocket for months now, waiting for the new processors/price drops and was planning on buying an XPS 410 or more likely it's successor, the XPS 420, on that date, but the processors are not to be found anywhere on a pc yet. I would think Dell would have been gearing up for July 22nd, the release date, and would have gotten ahold of the processors earlier to that date and been doing compatibility testing and building their new pcs with them to make them available on that date, but I guess not. Anybody have any speculation on when we will start seeing them on pcs for purchase, namely Dell? I've been waiting 4 months for July 22nd to come, so I can make my purchase, and it turned out to be just like any other day. The XPS 410 should be due to be replaced anytime now, it was released back in July 06' and Dell usually replaces their models once a year, and with the new Core 2 Duos coming out, it would make sense that the time is now. Plus, the XPS 720 just came out and the new Inspiron desktops; the only thing that hasn't been replaced is the 420... Anybody got any speculation? :)

I'm wondering the same thing... None of the big retailers (newegg, zipzoomfly, tigerdirect) have the Q6700 or the E0 Q6600 yet. I think the 266 for the Q6600 is what the retailers pay to get the processors, so I doubt we'll see below like ~280.

E6850 just arrived.

If I had to guess, I'd say Dell will start putting up the E6850 by the end of the month.

Side Note:
Lol French. My time zone is +6 off, I'd like to change that myself but I don't think we have those options. Maybe you're using a French proxy?

Yeah, it seems like the processors on Newegg, and other such places have been floating about 30.00 higher than the expected release prices. I think those prices are for retailers per 1000 quantity, or something like that. we probably won't ever see those true prices, but they should be close, i would think. I'm just ready to be able to buy them on a system...They need to get it in gear, it's hard to wait much longer, lol

Is it just me or is NewEgg suffering a connection hit, maybe because of the E6850.

I didn't have any trouble just now. just saw that they have the 6850 for 345.00, yikes. may'be i was wrong about the 30.00 above expected release prices, lot more than that! You're right, though, i think we should start seeing them on pcs before the end of the month. Dell usually releases their new stuff or has price changes on Thursdays, so I'm gonna wager on this Thursday for Dell. Plus, it's the back to school season right now, people are going to have to start ordering the pcs for their kids going off to college if they haven't already done so, you'd think the retailers would want to tap into that back to school market with the new pcs/processors?

Nah, the latest/greatest isn't exactly back to school material. I'd think more Christmas material.

Lol, they're crazy... who do they think is going to pay $375 for a Q6600; that's $109 profit. $295 at zipzoomfly. $290 at tigerdirect. Course, I don't order anything from tigerdirect because all they use is United Package Smashers for delivery.

The world is full of enough dipwads who buy without researching first, who won't know about the price drops, so they can get away with with that type of hooie, but for people in the know, it ain't happenin'. I don't order from Tiger Direct cause they charge like crazy shipping charges. I buy alot of stuff off of Buy.com because they are usually much cheaper than retail and don't charge tax and rarely shipping. United Package Smashers, lol. They smashed up my new Xbox 360 Elite a coupla weeks ago, waiting on the replacement...B@stards

When I built this system like 6 years ago. I ordered a case from tigerdirect via United Package Smashers. When the case arrived the box was indented in a V shape on the side. I opened it up and the left panel (the side with the MB access) was dented in so badly there was no way short of massive brute force and a wedge of some sorts to open it. I immediately called tigerdirect back up and they thankfully paid for the shipping back and gave me a full refund on the case. I only had to take it to the United Package Smasher's local place. When I got there and went in, they were singing like they were on the chain gang and slamming packages like a tae kwon do master on crack!

Well I ordered my Q6600 from mWave on Sunday night right after their price went from $273 to $279.

When I did ordered the CPU, mWave included a $10 discount because it had been a while sense I had used them last.

Hell if I had known this I would have bought the CPU earlier in the day when I first saw the $273 price, and before shipping my price would have been $263, under the $266.

The price drops take about a week or two to reach full effect in the retail market.

The new lower wattage Q6600's come out next month, so if you can wait and you want a hopefully better overclocking CPU, get one in Aug.

This is where I found some good info.
