Grats to all those idiots that spent $600 dollars and the Iphone wich is prety much worthless technology .. Its just like when the RAZOR came out it was 500 Dollars now its free. Common its just a phone/mini laptop combo .

If at any time u have time to see a video on your phone then ur probably at home . With every other phone company u can se your email and play mp3 music from it . This is just a bigger screen with a UI for $600 dollars wow.

Give me a thin small phone with internet all I need. MP3 on phone? why . if at anytime u need to listen to music its going to be at the gym or if u dont have a cd player or radio in your car.

These people will soon find little use for it after a week of showing it off. But So what Microsoft is now billions of dollar richer so grats .. Id rather buy a ps3 or get a present for my mom or go buy a hooker or something .

It's Apple and Steve Jobs that make the iPhone, not Microsoft. Microsoft make Windows Mobile smartphones, which are somewhat similar in function to the iPhone.

And still somewhat on-topic, I haven't given Gates or his head chair-thrower Steve Ballmer a red cent since 2002 and I have never given Steve Jobs anything. I don't own an iPod nor have I squandered any money on lossy, DRMed music on the iTunes Music Store.

Oh, yeah, new technology tends to be expensive. Look at, say, the X850XT. It was a $500 card a couple years ago. Now it's a <$100 card. Times change. Get used to it.

Let it ride, it's the flavor of the month. It is rather silly to need an mp3 player, internet etc. on your phone. When the heck are you gonna use it? I have a job and work all day I hardly have time to get on the internet at work to check my email and read the news during my lunch break. When I get home I have my computer with a nice big screen. I have your basic no frills cell phone. The best use I have for it is as an alarm clock to wake me in the morning. People just want stuff for the sake of having it. Some thing new that is all.

Smartphones kick arse! if you happen to need one. I run a small business that basically involves working on ladders all day long at customer houses. I stream Internet radio over my bluetooth headphones, field customer calls, make notes about them, schedule jobs and keep track of appointments and can Google answers about anything anywhere all without getting off the ladder. My Pocket PC is my best friend. They are not the best possible soloution to true mobile computing but they are the best we have at this time.

While I don't think he knew it, Miscrosoft will actually see a gain from iPhones sells since they purchased $150 million of non-voting stock in 1997 and still own that share.

It's still my notion that most of the people who rushed out to get the iPhone don't have jobs in the first place. That would explain their ability to sit in line all day and work on thier iBooks all day in Starbucks. (iDIOTS)

why can't we all just use linux... ubuntu is good... and pleanty pretty... and within a year... it'll have a major pc retailer backing it... dell... and although I don't like dell, the extra few thousand users of ubuntu can't hurt anything. :-p so just let the idiots (all the companies that want your money) do what they want to do... and you'll tick em all off by not buying anything, and doing it legally... (eg. all the frivolous lawsuits against open source softwares)


honestly... how do you sue a company that doesn't exist and gives things away for free? i mean... if i gave you a toaster that i built with my own two hands out of junk lying around your house... how can the toaster company sue me? or 200 people that made it? i don't get it....

err... are you morally disabled? Linux is great... and if you use it you pretty much put 90% of arguments about "pc vs. mac" or "this phone vs. that phone" to rest.... if they all used linux, any company could make modifications to have their own look and feel... and it would bring costs down... not to mention the fact that a lot of content is user based... so users get what they really want, rather than what's marketable. not to mention the fact that linux has better x64 support than ms and a good chunk of other software companies. ( i can't speak on apple... if they even do that?) but that was almost witty... :-p

i'm new to it and all, but I love it... I used ms for god knows how long... used apple products in school... ubuntu just gives me what i want (save for a little gaming support... there are good games for it... but not as many as for windows, but still more than are supported on vista... :-p haha)

ps: and if linux were in the lead, it would create more jobs over a span of more companies for programmers and the like... (for smart phones, pda's, etc... companies that need/want customized software that will run well on low computing power devices) k? good! :-p

No, I just like getting paid for my work. And think others should be compensated as well.

Remember, the "community" supports open source products without any goal of compensation as they support the product for the "good of the community".

The open source products just remind me of communism. Or from a personal perspective the many years ago when I worked for a company and any intellectual developments created by myself (or others) would become the property of the company without any additional compensation to the creator. Just doesn't seem real fair to my greedy self. And I know my boss really got screwed over on that one.

Whereas, for profit companies that develop a large number of intellectual products (ie Microsoft, Intel, Adobe et al) have profit sharing sharing programs in place that compensate their valuable employees for intellectual efforts AND spend a huge portion of their profits on new product development and research. Remember many a Microsoft employee has become a millionaire for their intellectual efforts while at the same time dozens or even hundreds of failed products have been developed by Microsoft. As the old adage says, you don't create the prefect omlet without breaking a few egg yolks.

I will continue to buy my software. I know that somebody, somewhere is being paid to develop their ideas into new and better software products. A lot better situation than somebody working for free for me.

I am using Ubuntu 7.04 .... you speak like they are completely different distros. You do realize the difference is mainly just the desktop environment? In fact you cab get KDE on ubuntu with just one command line.
