I recently bought a brand new windows 7, and I would like to install it. The catch is it isn't an upgrade (please don't tell me that I could have bought an upgrade, because I know, and I didn't), so I need to wipe clean vista from my system, and start fresh. I have everything that I want backed up, so I suppose I need to wipe my whole hard drive clean to be able to install a new OS. I thought maybe to insert my vista installation CD, but it didn't give me an option to delete it, so I'm not really sure what to do. Btw, its Vista Home Premium 64bit that I am installing, and Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit that I am installing.

There isn't much more to my question, but to reiterate, I am asking how to completely remove Vista from my system.

I haven't installed Windows 7 yet, but in previous versions, you should just be able to boot from the Disc, then format the drive from there.

The drive will be overwritten by Windows 7 during installation.

I haven't installed Windows 7 yet, but in previous versions, you should just be able to boot from the Disc, then format the drive from there.

Just insert the Windows XP bootable disk and boot using it. Then tell the Windows XP setup to format everything and install Windows XP

Make sure you take any backup of personal data before you do this
