I know there is a similar thread to my problem but the responses didn't help my problem...

I have a netgear router and a D-link wireless USB adapter. When I try to connect to wireless internet, it says I am connected but it does not let me actually access the internet.

1. I am able to connect with an ethernet cable and the internet works (wireless is the problem)
2. Other people can connect to the wireless internet from my router
3. I can connect to OTHER routers with wireless

I have tried
1. resetting the router to factory settings and reconfiguring it
2. altering my wireless settings (but they are always the same as people who can connect)

Also, I do not have a static IP address (acquires IP address automatically).

I'm not particularly technologically oriented... but any advice/help would be appreciated!
