I found a couple of tech sites talking about this. Has anyone tried this and does it work? Wil it make crysis play in dx10 or do I have to do the edits inside that file?
DX10 was never made to work on XP. Just because some people have found a way to make their dxdiag report DX 10 is installed doesn't mean that they have a fully functional version of DX 10 running. The project has been abandoned by it's creators and whatever is out there now may or may not work with anything. Also, just because DX 10 says it's installed doesn't mean that the game you're playing is running in DX 10 mode... most games have a DX 9 mode to make them backwards compatible with XP... and this is likely what is happening. DX 9 with an extra effect or 2 is still DX 9.
