Am considering buying this device, after years of being a Palm 500
series user. Have read the reviews, mucked around with the device in
a shop, etc, but am looking for feedback from anyone who has some
first-hand experience with the device.

Would like some negative feedback if possible, as most things I've
read seem to rave about the hx2750. Can't be THAT good can it?

Cheers.

I've had my hx2755 (same device different packaging), since
March of this year, and I love it. It's my first Pocket PC, after
owning many Palm units, I wanted something with more power, and a
removeable battery. I heard a lot of horror stories about loosing
data, and poor battery preformance on Pocket PC, and I've experanced
none of this. I have had to do a couple of soft resets, but no more
often than my Palm units. The only things I've noticed that once
after charging, I had to soft reset the unit to get it to turn back
on, and the other is that the software package it comes with is really
skimpy. I wish Pocket Access was still included, and sometimes I have
to re-save a word document to get it to convert to Pocket Word.
Adding TextMaker solved that problem. Pocket IE isn't the greatest,
but I haven't installed the new OS upgrade yet, I hate to mess with
it, as everything is working so well, I didn't want to install it
until I heard more feedback from others.

I used to play music on my Palm, but now I can Play video
without conversion as well as audio, It's great! I love having the
hard flip cover back like I did on my Palm IIIe, IIIx and IIIxe, but
this one being clear does pick up fingerprints. Speaking of
fingerprints, the fingerpring scanner works perfectly, I've yet to
have it refuse my print, or except anyone elses.

As for switching from Palm OS (latest unit was a Zire 72) it
was great to have real graffiti back! My complaint about the OS is
that the "X" button minimizes and not closes, but that was easily
fixed with shareware. If I could only get SLTG and AcidFreecell for
it, it would be the perfect device! :)

I feel the same way about SLTG - that and Shadow Plan are the two programs
I most miss on the Palm and I'm even considering buying a cheap Palm device
(Zire 31) just to run those prrograms. Nothing on the WM platform quite
matches these programs.

There's also StyleTap. I've tried it and it works fine with Shadow Plan but
constantly crashes with SLTG. :(

HP Suggest that they will offer an upgrade to Windows Mobile 5 for the
hx2700, see http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/newsroom/ [...] 0510b.html That
is a good sign I believe.

One horrendous problem that I've been unable to solve is it turning
itself on and wasting the battery.

In addition, maybe a one off, the active sync is unreliable : I really
have to seat the 2750 well into the cradle for the USB connection to
register.

Other than that ... nice.

Sorry to tell you but mine is terrific!
Previously had psion 3a, so my comparison is a bit like comparing a single
prop plane to a jet liner, but thats effectively how it seems.
Stuggling to set up my e-mails on it, but thats my problem, not the
machines.

Reliable, well made, etc. etc.
