Hello,

Does anyone know of any good CURRENT reviews/benchmarks on Windows Vista Ultimate 64-Bit Edition? I've searched hi and low but all I can find are reviews from a year or more ago.. something in the last 3-5 months would be great. I'm going to be installing it soon and I'm just curious how good it is all around at this point in time. I've got 6GB of RAM to go into my rig for it so I'm thinking as far as ram goes I should be more then good considering what I use this rig for; gaming primarily. Anyways, any help greatly appreciated!

Vista 64 has arrived. Plenty of us gamers and enthusiasts using it and having no problems. Older software, and I mean really old, and older hardware may occasionally run into issues. Driver support is a tad behind Vista 32 and XP 32 but for most gamers on most newer systems this is a non-issue.

A walk through Best Buy shows that a very high percentage of new systems now ship with Vista 64, so we should expect that support going forward is only going to get better and better until 64 becomes the new standard probably by the time Windows 7 hits.

No Review but heres my Vista story.

First installed when Vista was first released before SP1, was a nightmare, got completely irritated with it and went back to XP Pro.

After SP1 was released some here urged me to give it another shot, at first it seemed better but still problematic, however the true problem was the hardware drivers not Vista.

Got all the driver issues resolved and was dual booting between Vista and XP Pro, after running a series of benchmarks I discovered Vista SP1 was now out performing XP in every benchmark, I tested.

Since Vista64 will actually run 32bit applications, there was no longer any need to dual boot XP any more, so now I'm just running Vista64 Home Premium w 4G of RAM, and its rock solid.

No regrets M8! Ryan
