Outlook 2007 not connecting to exchange

hi
i have a new laptop in a business and ive set it up and it connects to the network all fine, can connect to the network drives on the server. but when i go to connect the email account to the exchange server it just gets the error
"the name cannot be resolved. the connection to microsoft exchange is unavailable outlook must be online or connected to complete this action"
this happens when i got to check names, the email account works fine on other computers here and its just this new one.
there is lot of things on the net about this problem but im yet to find a soloution that solves my problem, can anybody help me please?
