It seems 7 was running flawlessly on a 1ghz. netbook with a gig of RAM. UAC is greatly tweaked and tweakable to boot. And it's got touch features and some nifty new interface features. Looks like it might be the winner MS needs but I suppose it's way early to say for sure. I see the haters are spreading FUD already LOL.

Until it's release I can press the 'windows' and 'tab' keys simultaneously and dream.

i just saw some screen shots and videos...

if this was made to please all the vista bashers, I really don't think its going to work since it's just vista SP2 imo.

if the economy is still a sucky ducky then windows 7 will be just like Vista.

All I ask is someone give a valid reason to switch from XP SP3, and no one has been able to do it yet.

I just love the people who went gaga over Aero. Looks nice, but kills performance, and it doesnt do anything. Maybe if you used it to replace the taskbar...but it has no functional use and nothing but added looks. Yet people call it the best thing since sliced bread...

Vista 64 ultimate got new dreamscapes and a new game recently during a windows update. I do like it better then XP SP3 definitly. The sucky thing is when migrating over for the first time is that old printers and stuff loose functionality in Vista. DX10 now and DX11 in a few months will be the reasons to update definitly. I am still using DX9 though since I am waiting for DX11. I guess the best reason NOW would be to push your hardware the most using 64 bit registers. I have an outated socket and Vista 64 ultiamte runs smooth as butter.

I hated Windows XP SP2. But yeah, Vista 64 pretty much walks all over Windows XP SP3.

I see Vista Biatch has shown up on the Forumz once again. Vista Biatch is a worst nightmare for even the most experienced Windows XP SP3 user. Give it up for Vista Biatch.

This post seems to have taken a turn.

Does V7 offer any of the search features that Vista was trying for originally?

Does it offer anything more in memory mangement options, in as far as Vista is a bit of a pig consuming memory but offers few options to clear some memory on the fly.

I think a great option would be the ability to boot as normal and then have
the ability to "Dumb" the machine down for memory intensive tasks.

Games come to mind first, and then when done push the turbo and there ya go.
Same thing could be offline and drop some security.

Aero doesn't kill performance in the slightest... it is a false perception. It actually helps performance since it passes off rendering of the desktop to the GPU instead of rfelying solely on the CPU. Not only do I have Aero enabled, I also have a Dreamscape background on my desktop. When I play a game, there is absolutely no difference in performance over what I got with XP on the exact same hardware. (At least none that is noticable... and perception is what counts. 1-2 FPS is NOT noticable in the slightest.)

There may be no complelling reason to switch from XP right now... but once XP's life cycle comes to an end (and it will), you can expect to see less driver support on new hardware for it. Just like most new hardware has no drivers for Win 9x... you can expect to start seeing the same thing with XP once Windows 7 is released.

xp sp3 does nothing new for xp which to me is an outdated and now a hollow feeling os since having used vista for some time and recently getting a chance to play around just a very little bit with windows 7 I personally cannot stand windows xp. The feel of it is not solid like vista, stability for me on xp is nowhere near that of vista.

I am tired of seeing people already starting to bash windows 7 when they have not even used it and are basing their opinions on vista which half the people who are talking **** about probably have not even taken the time to use for an extended period.

Yes vista is a resource hog and yes it takes up too much space and ram to run but at the same time what I saw of windows 7 it is more responsive than xp and has the solid feel of windows vista at the same time whilst using far fewer resources and not being jammed with useless items.

By the way, I have run vista since rls on a P4 2.8 Prescott with an ati radeon x1650 and 2gb of ram and it ran well so if your complaing about it not working well perhaps its not just the os but some user lack of optimization.

By the way, I just put xp sp3 onto my pc instead of vista ultimate but I do not think I can take using it so will probably be switching back to vista temp until a public rls of windows 7 becomes available at which point I am not looking back.

Embrace the change don't try to resist it. All you base belong to us (teh vole) :D
