When I install windows, Generally what I do is copy all my software either extracted or I ISO it on to my hard drive because I'm really bad with CD's and scratching. So basically what I do is Split my HDD into 2 seperate partitions, it's been like this forever

Anyways, a couple days ago I had an issue with vista where my user profile became corrupt, so not a big deal because I got 2 seperate partitions right, so re-installing would be a breeze... So I went ahead and did that, but after I formated, I noticed that the only CD i had around to install was XP-Pro-64-bit so I popped that badboy in the drive and installed XP-64 and upgraded it to Vista-64 because I couldent find my Vista CD anywhere (Not really an upgrade but it was the only way to access my install)

Heres the Issue:
After installing Vista 64-bit the Drive Letter did not show up in Explorer (Wtf?)
I right clicked on my computer, went to manage. There it was... The Partition space still listed as NTFS Logical (thank god I didn't lose anything)
I right click it and go to assign a drive letter and I got the following error

'The operation failed to complete because the Disk Managment console view is not up-to-date. Reafresh the view using the refresh task. If the problem persists close the Disk Managment console, then restart Disk Managment or restart the computer.'

So I did that and it keeps giving me the same errors, I restarted both the computer and the Disk Managment console.

So i installed Acronis Disk Director Suite.... Checked it out, same deal no drive letter, Logical NTFS partition... I right clicked it to explore it and I could see everything... But attempting to assign a drive letter "D" in Acronis says 'Operation Completed Successfully' so I rebooted, and the problem still persists. It isn't in Explorer and Drive letter "D" has not been assigned.

Strange, this is the drive that I installed Vista from. it should work non?

- Other things I've tried "Disabled UAC" (Someone said this might help, but it didn't and hes probably a noob)

I've tried using the "Diskpart" utility in a Dos Emulation Shell but I really didn't seem to know what I was doing there... When I list my partitions in the Diskpart utility I see Primary, a Logical and Extended

1 Primary (My C: Drive with Operating system is listed as: 178GB Offset 8033MB)
0 Extended (93 GB Offset 93 GB)
0 Logical (93 GB offset 93 GB)

There is 8033MB unallocated on this drive as the Primary Offset is refering to....

So basically the drive that I installed Windows Vista from, Simply will not show up... There were some threads I read that the Partition may have been changed durring the XP-64 Setup?

Please help I can't install any of my nessisary programs, or listen to any music... the only drive letter I have active right now is the one thats SUPPOSED to be dedicated to Operating Sytem & Program Files only... So I'm kinda screwed right now Timely assistance is much appriciated.

Oh BTW, the disk is set up as "Basic" Not Dynamic.... I noticed in device manager that the Hard drive is listed as "SCSI" and its not a SCSI its definatly a SATA

The HDD is ST3200822AS 3.02
The Motherboard is P5N-E SLI

I've Installed the Manufacture Chipset and RAID Drivers from the retail CD and updated from the Asus Website aswell... I'll kee you updated on my progress

Running the Utility "Testdisk" says there is a space conflict between 2 partitions
