I've been using vista since I built this computer 12/26/07 and I plan on downgrading back to Windows XP SP2. I formated my hard drive (quick) and everything went alright untill it got to the install screen, it gets stuck at 39 minutes remaining for like 5 mins then it it gives me an error that says something like "cyclic redundancy check". I thought the disk was mest up so I tried another one, same thing, then I tried 3 more times with 3 diffrent windows xps and the same thing happens. So I last tried doing a long format that took like 2 hours to do and I still get the same error. I have no idea why it does this. If I install windows Vista it works 100% fine. I installed vista again and it installes perfectly with no problems. I've installed windows xp many times on dozens of computers and never had this error, how do I fix it? thanks.

and for system specs here: AMD 6400+, ATi 3870, 2GB PC6400 ram, 500GB SATA 7200rpm hard drive, and my motherboard is ECS 7050 M-M

Could the CRC error be from the CD rather than the hard disk?
