I purchased a gateway pfx 6860 a few months ago and recently its been telling me I cant get non important updates because it thinks I have a counterfeit operating system. Also I cant access control panel and I made an admin account and i dont get the privileges. Power options dont even work. What should I do about it? Should i send to geek squad for help (I bought it at best buy with a 2 year accidental plan) or to gateway for help?

I would ask them if they are ready to meet Jesus if they wanted to charge me that astronomical amount of money for that situation.

Scratch that, I see "a few months ago" in there now that I actually read it!

I guess on their side of the coin, they can't go fixing every retard's eff-ups. I'm not saying that you are retarded, or you effed it up, but I would guess that the majority of the people that they sell to fit that description description.

Have you scanned for virus' and spyware? If so, with what programs?

So far I've only been able to check with norton and with no results of finding any viruses trojans or spyware.

Ditch norton and get AGV or Avast.

Then run Adaware or Spybot.
