Nice rig mate, looks sweet, but then I clicked the link at bottom of your post and... well I think I'm in love, I mean, OMFG WTF did you see the, I mean look at the, by the power of greyskull check out that **reaches for kleenex** uuughh oh yeah.
holy COW! project DREAM is finally finished! i can't believe i missed that... its so beautiful. i remember when it was just a sketch! mcneillm, yours is a beaut, too... and that other rig is just out of this world. like, actually, it is. i appreciate the work, but i didn't really watch he man or whatever so...
but, for those of you who are reluctant to post, just go back and look at my rig, and feel better about yours
You guys should check out some of the cases at www.thebestcasescenario.com's forums. Especially by a guy named defyant. He takes old HP cases that look like this:
And turns them into ultra-sleek cases, like this:
Built this to replace my 5 year old Dell.
8O I can't believe those are HP cases. (mine is still fugly :? )
Well i have some upgrades enroute to my house, so next week i get to post my rig up here. It won't be near as mind blowing but i think i can be satisfyed(for now
). At least until i get my hands on a dremel and a hole saw.
Can't let this thread die. Come on people, make with the pictures.
Oh, wait, did you mean pictures of computers?

That lexa looks sweet. How much of a fingerprint magnet is it though?
this thread should be a sticky! heres my baby, i'm selling it thoug for some cash...2000 but i'll take 1700 :s
Woohoo...! Finally got my pics in order.
The inside of my PC, I still need some cable work. Its ok for now. Just gotta reverse the HD and get some zip ties. I finally upgraded my fan to a Scythe 100mm silent fan. See the Bose speakers?
My desktop, its usually not so clean. Ewww...! Its a Compaq. Its still kicks some butt.
(Edit: Also notice the awesome paper mod)
My other toy. (After all...I am a DJ)
PETEvsDRM, that looks like it must have a pretty hefty PSU. But can you OC it?
Edited for off-topic nonsense.
=/ do you ever have problems with that PSU? I hear sometimes that kind is dangerous to work with, given it's instability!
(Yes, I mean the poison sac unit)
Edited for stupidity.

Nice setup but where do your legs fit between the computer and the sub? Can you say ouch?
Actually, there's plenty of room. Plus, my x1950 Pro gives off enough heat to warm my feet on cold nights.
Oh i am going to *KILL* some of you fuckers.
'The hd2900 is sooooooooooooo expensive'
Sell your $700 cases you retards then complain about GPU prices, that have actually DROPPED.
BTW some of these are REALLY nice. Though it looks like a neon lighting festival in some pictures. Case lights are gay.

Well, I feel no worse, but no better either than you
Warning! D@mn outdated and slow (& standard
) PC
Nice lookin case DukeDave, very clean. What did you use to mount that fan on the side panel?

Can you capture your screen and post it? I've been wondering the quality of text and pics on LCD TV....
| Quote : Some cool rigs there.

Hi, what you new case is?
| Quote :
|
I could, but it wouldn't do you any good.
My screenshot would be displayed on your monitor, so it wouldn't really give you a good idea what it looks like on my screen.
The tv I got is pretty much exactly like any other 8ms lcd monitor, it supports every resolution you would expect from a pc monitor, it's even made by Sceptre (a company that makes monitors). The only drawback that I noticed is that since the pixel pitch is so large in comparison with other monitors, non-native resolutions are more noticeable when you are close to the screen. As you can see I sit on the couch about 7-8 feet from the screen, so my desktop is at 1330 x 768 just so I can read the text from where I sit lol.
At the native resolution(1920x1080) it is beautiful though. 1000:1 contrast, 176 degree viewing angle. Image quality is on par with my old Samsung LCD monitor. I actually bought it to use mainly as a tv, but I hooked up my gaming machine to it just to see what it looked like and I have never wanted to take it off. I gave my old monitor to my brother after a couple of months.
The speakers that came with it are garbage though. I bought those klipsch 2.1's after I set it up and heard those speakers. Fortunately they were removable.

still very loyal to my ball mouse! No equal!
Umm... I think you missed a few drive bays there. That UV bear looks trippy!
That 2900xt looks pretty sharp under the UV cold cathode too.
Is it actually UV reactive, or does it just looks that way in the photo?
| Quote :
|
it is reactive but only a little pinkish-red glow, just like in the photo
| Quote : I think you missed a few drive bays there |
i have one extra spare bay, im thinking of putting an audio terminal there and the storage bay plus the fan controller that was originally for a pci bracket. i cant think of anything else useful i can put there to fill it up.
This is the only shot I have - inside after I cleaned it up, spec's below the pic. everyone knows what a PC7B looks like so the insides all that maters anyway....

this is my last stand on this case. soon Ill be building something more suited for gaming.
Thats an interesting Shuttle
I like the "external" PSU. That 1950pro takes up nearly the entire length of the case! The green tri-cool fans add a nice touch. Very cool indeed. The color of the PSU kind of off-sets everything though?
I just noticed the hole for the video card cooler!!
Nice fragbox you've got going on there. I'll bet that's a hit an LAN parties.
The copper PSU is a bit wild, but it was cheaper than the other colors
I only wish the PSU had modular cables, since right now IM using about 1/5 of the wires they provide, and the extras end up in a rats nest behind my system.

Wow man! That is some really nice cable management! I'm assuming that is a modular powersupply though. But overall, it made me say wow. Also like the modded Corsair fans.
| Quote : Well, it would seem my rig doesn't hold a candle to the majority of yours. Then again, the dust and wires don't help either. Here are some pics, specs in sig:

Sorry fo being off topic, but i really love ur desk and i want to get a similar one, what's it's name & price, and can i find it online?
thx in advance,
btw, To anyone who posted pics, all ur pcs simply ROCK!!!
I don't have a cam now so it will be a while b4 i post mine.
This is my crappy computer:
Sorry about the last picture. I'm using a camera phone w/ no flash, so I used a flashlight
. There's not enough light otherwise to see the internals.
Stats:
Dual cooling loops (koolance, yes, I know, its crap)
CPU: 250 opty x2 (running between 91*F to 93*F on a bad day)
Video: 1900xtx w/ ARCTIC COOLING Accelero X2 heatsink (not OC'd right now, but it'll get me pretty decent OCs when I want)
HDD: 2 maxtor 160s in raid 0, seagate 320 gig, raptor 36 gig x2 (old, not as speedy as the new ones)
PSU: enermax galaxy 1000watt (powers all the HDDs, CPUs and cooling loops; the mobo requires 645 watts to work w/ 2 cpus, not including gpu)
Its a big server case. I forget the name of it. It stands just over 27.5" from the ground. Its huge.
Thats kinda cool! Not really top of the line anymore, but i like it.
Your PC has lots of character. Much cooler than the thousands of e6600/680i/8800's out there. Sure, they're fast and play games like nobody's business... But this PC is just interesting.
| dj_taboo wrote : Thats kinda cool! Not really top of the line anymore, but i like it. |
It does its job with games well enough for now. It'll run HL2, DOOM3, at max setting @ 60fps easy. CnC3 gets a little slow down when I run it @ max setting w/ 1920x1080 resolution and 3 or more computer opponents. I won't be seeing record breaking speeds, but its decent.
I like the case, but its lack of 120mm fan holes as well as heavy weight is a bit of a drag, though I won't retire it. It'll just sit in a room and run SETI and be used for other things and probably act as a printer server and file server. I believe the case is at least 70 or 80 lbs. I can sit on it (I'm about 190 lbs) and it doesn't come close to buckling. I think It can easily hold 500 to 700 lbs. I'd pull out my weight set and try it, but thats not worth crushing my old working desktop
.
Thanks for the comment. I'll have to post my computer when i get some cash and build it. I'll probably be an early adopter of penryn, so people will get excited. I'll feel like N'Sync did in the 90s.
For the rest of you guys, start posting some pics! This thread needs to continue.
Behold:
I like the server racks, but the CRT? What?!?!?
1. Those are not "server racks" those are home theater component racks.
2. CRT? yes, that *is* the hold grail of holy grails, the 24" Sony Trinitron; the FW-900, that smoke every LCD made (so far) the backs and blacker, the whites brighter, ghosting, non-existent, the colors vividness vs a LCD is laughable. And nobody can steal it. (100LB). The only CRT that can do HD too. 3.3MP is it's max.
3. The computer is also entirely silent, but a whisper unless you move up next to the read and listen really close.
4. The speakers can do 20 - 20K, flat.

I'm astounded. Those are SPEAKERS...? What on earth do you use them for, hosting Raves?
You have one hell of a machine, my friend.
Reply to lordaardvark2
So what kinda speakers you bumpin?
I paid $36 for the case, it came with a 400W Powmax PSU. You know the fireworks displays on the 4th of July? I had a miniature one of those after about 2 weeks. If fireworks are illegal in your area, just buy one of these, you won't be dissapointed.
The case along with several other components were from my first home built computer. I quickly learned that drives usually don't come with silver fronts. Unfortunately it was a bit too late.
