I have e-fax on the desktop (Windows 98SE). Any way to view
these faxes on my ppc? (Tif file from the scanner).

Resco viewer can display TIFF files. I think you'll discover they are
rather larger files than you want hanging about on your PDA. Maybe you
could consider making them GIF or JPEG instead, to save space ?

Most faxes are stored in TIFF ccitt Fax3 format... so assure that the
viewer will support that format.

The TIFF ccitt Fax3 format is actually very compact... for bw fax type
images, probably the smallest possible format... (surprised me too ;-)

Curious, so I just checked the size of one of these Tiff FAX3 files;

1276 x 1616 Pixels, BW, 48K

Oh nice to know ... of course I was thinking about the photoshop style
of TIFF where you get RGB layers + an alpha channel ! CCITT is
probably run length encoded to compress the data I guess ;-)

Nice - about the size of some peoples website logos (but less
information-free ;-) I guess that's for a single page fax.

Is the OP likely to run into any problems *viewing* a file at that
resolution? Faxes are 150dpi, right? I guess the main intent would be
he wants to read it on screen, so I expect zoom+scrolling would get
him there in the end.

That's actually higher res than a fax... first one I found to use as a
size example.

If memory serves, think fax res is significantly less, perhaps a
quarter... sooming works, but the user will probably have to
horizontally scroll each line.

I now use the TiffFax3 as my primary starting point for generating text
only document pdf's due to the small pdf sizes that result... but only
when I have to begin with printed paper originals.
