I have a toshiba sattelite M45 S331 and I have been VERY happy with it BUT... I recently updated the video driver because I was having problems seeing streaming video (audio is fine). Since doing so, VideoLan VLC player won't play AVI or mpg videos. I can hear it but the screen stays black. Intervideo's DVD player has the same problem. Microsoft media player will play avi wma (not as well as VLC did) but now won't play dvds. I followed directions installing KB 888111 first so that's not it. I tried reverting to the previous driver, uninstalling 888111, reverting to an even earlier driver but nothing seems to work.

Any ideas besides throwing the thing from the top floor window?
