Hey, I have a question regarding environmental variables. Basically what happens is that my dad did not like Firefox 3b5 that came with the new Ubuntu so I had to install firefox2 for him again and then after I did that, any time he clicks a picture in GoogleEarth to see it in firefox, it tells me the following message:

Quote :

"Could not launch any web browser. Please make sure you have set the $BROWSER environmental variable to the filename of the web browser we should launch!"

So, I looked up a bit about environmental variables online and I added the following at the end of my dad's .bashrc file:

BROWSER = /usr/bin/firefox-2 ; export BROWSER # and of course /usr/bin/firefox-2 is the appropriate path for firefox2

so I then did "source .bashrc" to apply the changes and checked to make sure $BROWSER was set properly with "echo $BROWSER" . The variable was indeed set, but when I went back to google earth (after completely restarting it), it still gave me the same error! I have even tried seeing if it would work after the computer had completely rebooted but I still have the same problem.

Perhaps there is something that I am missing here? Any help/insight is greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys.
