Just got back from a Computer show in NH

Picked up a used notebook

Gateway MA7 MX6214 (was not my first choice but the price was right)

It has a restore option built in with restore files located on a partition of the HD.

OS is XP home

I assume as the PC is from Gateway that it has an OEM version of XP
I have the xp coa key using a keyfinder on the laptop

Can I wipe the hard drive of the laptop and use my OEM disk of XP home to just install the os without all that extra crap that pc makers put on it?

This is my first laptop so I am not sure if there is anything that a restore disk would have on it that is not normally installed by a windows disk.

Thanks in advance,

J

You can but you'll probably have to call MS to activate Windows.
