First, I couldn't find a forum topic that was close to this topic, so Im sorry if this doesn't apply correctly.

Im interning for the information security department at a educational institution. A current project is the possible revamp of the SPAM solution for the entire regent. The question we have is which solution would be the best...our insititutions are pretty much just Barracuda, however we want to know if there is any out there that are better. Have any of you used any of these other products and feel they are worth investing into? Sophos PureMessage, Mail Marshall, Spam Assassin, MimeDefang, ClamAV, Ironport, forefrong, and IHateSpam. IHateSpam is a joke, so no ;)

You could checkout an Application called ModusGate. We use that in a lot of our implementations. You can also check out www.emailsorting.com if your interested in spam/virus control.

Thanks for that information i checked into it. I liked the product, but we didn't find anything "outstanding" about it and thought that it wasn't worth the entire revamp. We decided to stick with barracuda since it seems that most SPAM solutions are functioning about the same.
