I recently switched from Juno dial up to Juno DSL 3000 kbps. Juno just added DSL/Broadband service. I received my 2WIRE 2071 modem and kit and installed it fine. The problem is this. During the day, I can go online without much problem, stream videos and listen to music. However; after around 7:15 pm PST, the internet connection becomes unreliable. The internet light will flicker green like crazy, turn red periodically, and is sometimes nonexistent. I have spoken to Juno several times and followed their instructions like making sure there are no lamps around, unplugging fax machines, peripherals etc. There is no construction going on and pretty much all the lights and machines that are on during the day when the DSL works is on at night when I want to go online.

I was wondering how this can be resolved or what the problem could be. I am on the Mac using OS 10.4.9.

Thanks for any help!

There's your problem right there! :)

seriously now, At night there are more people online, using the phone, etc. It could just be a signal strength problem due to it being on the edge. Have them check the signal strength during the day and at night to see what they are at.

Dear Anonymous:

Thank you for your help. Regarding your idea about the signal strength: If there is a big difference during the night and day, can Juno do anything about this? I mean, can they bump up the signal or something-or am I locked into their current signal strength. Also, are there any adapters or something that can boost the signal to my modem?

Thanks,
haiwa

Juno would have to get with the local phone company that maintains the lines. They would have to check the signal strength. I know there are boosters for cable internet, not sure, but I would assume they have them for DSL.
