I have two computer hooked to a D-link 802.11g router, both have 802.11g adapters and whenever i transfer files like videos I get under 1 mb/s transfer speed and it never goes higher. I was just wondering because I know 802.11g is 54mb's theoretical but it shouldn't be this slow. If anyone knows why im getting this performance I would appreciate any help.

How do you know that is the transfer speed? In other words what are you using to test?

im using a windows vista sidebar gadget called network meter v2.0 and it tells me the transfer speed in the dialog box when i transfer files
