Anyone else had problems with Rainbow Six: Vegas in Vista 64 bit? Mine will install fine and update... but it will just stall once you click to play the game. It will no load no matter what compatiability setting I change it too nor me running it as Administrator.

Anyone with any solutions cuz I really wanted to play it

I have CS:S, HL2, Sup Com, and Oblivion running perfectly on there. So far Rainbow Six and Battlefield 2142 will not work for me no matter what I try. I have all the new updates and all the patches yet nothing.

Thanks though!

Vista 64 with my specs is wonderful and I hate working on a XP machine when I have to switch PC's lol

I've played Rainbow Six Vegas all the way from beginning to end on Vista 64-bit. Finished it last weekend. No issues at all.

Did you installed DirectX 9 ??

I installed Vegas and when starting it it complains about DirectX9 that is not installed. The message I got is :

"this application has failed to start because d3dx9_31.dll

As far as I known Vista come with DirectX 10.

Does someone (who had the same problem ) found a solution for that ??

Thanks

I'm sure I hit the "Yes" button when it asked (out of habit), but it didn't do anything.... The mcrosoft dx installer launched, but then quickly very exited when it realized it there was a newer dx version already installed. Even under XP, game installers often mis-detected it and then want to install it even when it's already there. No harm is ever done... the microsoft DX installer won't really do anything if it's launched and finds out the version of DX it's supposed to install is already there.

Have you tried right clicking on the icon and selecting "Run this program in compatability mode for Windows XP" ?

If that doesn't work... than I don't know :(

How Can I Run My Game on Windows Vista?

Question
How can I get my game to run on Windows Vista?

Answer
We currently have no PC titles that are officially supported under Windows Vista. Most of the games in our present catalogue were created before Windows Vista was released. If the game does not list Windows Vista as a supported operating system, Ubisoft cannot guarantee full compatibility with Windows Vista.

You may be able to get older Windows XP games running in Windows Vista by using the compatibility mode option.

Once the game has been installed:

1. Find the game icon listed in your games directory.
2. Right click on the game and click on Customize. This will bring up the customize menu.
3. Select Play.
4. Select Edit.
5. This will bring up the Properties screen. Click the Compatibility tab.
6. Check 'run in compatibility mode' and then choose Windows XP or whatever operating system the game was designed for.
7. Press Apply then press OK. You will be back at the customize menu.
8. Close the customize screen.

The game should now be configured to run in Compatibility mode.

Heh! I hope this works for you!

I already beat Rainbow Six Vegas, but I like the game a lot and would still like to be able to play it if I ever do go to Vista (eventually, I will).
