Argh...I am pulling my hair out. I can't get windows XP to boot after an improper shutdown.

I have a Pentium4 2.8 with a 925x chipset (Abit AA8 motherboard now discontinued), 1 GB RAM, 2 160GB Hddrives in RAID0 configuration. RAID controller is on my motherboard.

I have checked my bios – and RAID is configured correctly. I've tried rebooting with an Windows XP CDROM using F6 to install needed raid drivers from floppy (recently downloaded from Intel). But I am still stuck.

Post screens look normal (i.e. it lists my drives and RAID configuration). After it shows my PCI devices (including RAID Controller at IRQ 11), and Verifying DMI Pool Data, I get the following error:

Error Loading OS

Physically my drives are fine. I can run Knoppix 5.1 from the DVD (albeit very slowly) and it can read files from my RAID volume.

I need to get Windows back up and running. What should I do?

Should I try to run Knoppix NTFSfix?
Should I purchase Vista and try to install it over XP? (Of course, there is no guarantee that it will recognize my RAID drives either).
Does anyone have any other ideas?[/code]

did you try f8 during bootup and choose last known good configuration?

thanks for the suggestions, I think I'll just buy a new drive and use it as my primary (running either vista or linux).
