I am starting this thread in an effort to disseminate notices of Vista Updates (patches/fixes) being released by Microsoft (and to include 3rd party Drivers). Hopefully, Vista users will post update information here as it becomes available. This is not the thread to flame or complain - please limit your posts here to updates and "fixes" to problems, as they are identified and patched. Post Driver updates here, too!

Interestingly, this new driver is only showing up if you select "X-Fi Extreme Audio" as the card type. If you select *any* of the other x-fi card types (X-Fi Platinum, or XtremeGamer, etc.), the site still only offers up the Dec 28th drivers.

Update for Windows Vista (KB932590)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads [...] lang=en&tm

Install this update to address an issue where the TZ environment variable may not work as expected due to Daylight Savings Time changes in the United States.

Quote :

Microsoft Windows-based applications that use the TZ environment variable may not work as expected because of changes to daylight saving time (DST). Starting in the spring of 2007, the DST start date and the DST end date for the United States will transition to comply with the Energy Policy Act of 2005. DST in the United States will start three weeks earlier (2:00 A.M. on the second Sunday in March) and will end one week later (2:00 A.M. on the first Sunday in November) than in previous years.

In Windows Vista, in Microsoft Windows Server 2003, and in Microsoft Windows XP, when you use the TZ environment variable, the C Run-Time (CRT) localtime function and the CRT _localtime64 function will not correctly recognize DST. These functions will recognize DST as starting on the first Sunday of April and as ending on the last Sunday of October for all dates.

Microsoft issued "patches" to address the early implementation of Daylight Savings Time (USA only, I'm guessing). The above patch is for Vista, but there was a similar patch for XP. I have XP Pro, and I installed the patch ... and guess what - Windows advanced my clock 2 hours instead of one. I had to manually reset the time this morning.

I have no idea how M$ could have screwed this up. I have no idea if the Vista "fix" was similarly effected, but by now, you should know.

Does anyone here know where updates are downloaded so they can be installed on another windows installation at a later time? Is it possible at all?!
Thanks.

Tired:
You can try finding them but you might be better off setting up a WSUS/SUS server and using that as a deployment point. You can also download the installs to your computer and not install them. Then, pull them off your computer to another location to install everywhere. Its not as easy to do and probably tedious though.

I would setup a WSUS to do what it appears you are trying to do.
