M$ sure is milking Vista for all they can; DRM may put an end to it all IMO.

Edit:
Where does M$ think all the young people will come up with the money for this upgrade? Sure would be nice if Vista was reasonably priced like $100 for the retail full version. If the young can't afford they will move to Linux or any OS thus not get hooked on Windows. M$ maybe shooting their selves in the foot...

OEM may be a problem as well.

Please clarify.

Couple reasons:
1. MS owns Direct X and all the gamers are salivating over 'Crysis' and the upcoming Direct X 10 games. They'll find a way to 'obtain' Vista somehow.
2. Linux, even though it has gotten better and more usefriendly over the year, is still not a viable competitor to the 'every day joe' customer that Microsoft is selling Vista too.
3. You can get an OEM version of Windows Vista for $150 off NewEgg. If you don't plan on upgrading, this is a perfectly reasonable alternative.

Considering that most of the young people I know have better multi-media components, clothes and more music than I own, I don't see this upgrade being much of a cost issue if they really want it for DX10 - especially considering the prices that they seem to be paying for new XBox/PS3/Wii games already.
