I just got a used but new-looking Viking CF card in 256mb size according to
the label. When I try it in a couple of different palm and laptops though,
it reports itself as almost exactly 50mb.
Anyone got any idea what is going on here, and how I might recover the
"missing" 206mb ??

Thanks
Neill

Maybe that's why it was sold...?
Have you looked on the Viking website to see if they have help, or emailed
their support?.

It came as a "freebie" in a Jornada ebay auction. I tried reformatting it in
a Psion Series 5 (their OS has a CF reformat command) but it still read
50mb, then I reinserted it into the 680e and accepted the question to
reformat it again, which it did, but still only 50mb shows.
My next step is to find a laptop and try another reformat.
